Diagnosis: After testing the broiler functions, we determined that for the low broil setting the oven just cycles the broil burner on and off. This is normal operation for this model. The broil features appear to be operating correctly currently.

Repair: Work: Diagnosed broiler operation and confirmed normal function · Parts: No parts needed · Result: Customer educated on proper low broil cycling behavior

Samsung dryer (DV42H5200EP/A3) — Akron, OH

Reported: The customer reported no heat from their Samsung dryer. The unit would tumble and complete cycles, but clothes were coming out cold and damp.

Diagnosis: The heat element had given out. During inspection, we also found the dryer vent tests partially obstructed, which likely contributed to the element failure by causing the system to overheat.

Repair: Work: Replaced the element and cleaned the right rear roller shaft · Parts: DC97-14486A — Assembly Duct Heater

GE washer (WPRE6150KWT) — Akron, OH

Reported: The customer reported their washer still works, but makes clicking sound when you turn drum by hand and makes banging noise when running, but spins the clothes out ok. These symptoms pointed to internal transmission components wearing out, even though the washer was still completing its cycles.

Diagnosis: The bearings had failed in the mode shifter transmission assembly. This critical component controls the washer’s different operating modes, and when the bearings fail, it creates the clicking and banging sounds the customer experienced while still allowing basic spin functions to work.

Repair: Work: Replaced the mode shifter transmission assembly · Parts: WH38X10019 — Shaft and Tube Assembly, WH2X1193 — Nut Hub · Result: After replacing it, the washer is operating correctly and quietly

Admiral washer (GTWN7450H1WW) — Alliance, OH

Reported: The customer reported an odd grinding noise like the washer was off track of a bearing. After trying to level it and use it, they returned from the store to find it way out of place and banged up. The grinding noise wasn’t present when it left their son’s house, and they were having difficulty getting the machine properly leveled.

Diagnosis: The wash machine was hanging up on some plumbing that was rotted. This interference was preventing proper leveling and causing the machine to move excessively during operation, creating the grinding noise and instability the customer experienced.

Repair: Work: Moved the rotted plumbing and leveled the machine · Parts: None — no parts were needed · Result: Machine operating and functioning normally with all functions checked: fill, wash, drain and spin

KitchenAid dishwasher (W10579093A) — Alliance, OH

Reported: The customer reported that all buttons work, but dishwasher will not fill with water. The unit would start its cycle but never progressed past the initial fill stage.

Diagnosis: We inspected the fill system and discovered there was a piece of plastic lodged under the float switch preventing it from filling with water. The float switch is a safety mechanism that controls water level — when debris blocks its movement, the dishwasher won’t fill at all.

GE dyer (HTDX100EM2WW) — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported that the timer knob has broken off and the connection had fallen into the cowling. This left the dryer inoperable since there was no way to select cycles or start the unit.

Diagnosis: Upon examination, we discovered the timer had dropped loose from its mount. The knob breaking off was a secondary issue — the real problem was that the entire timer assembly had become detached from its proper mounting position.

Repair: Work: Reinstalled the timer to its proper mount · Parts: No parts required · Result: The dryer is operating correctly

GE washer (GTW460ASJ5WW) — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported that their washer won’t spin always. The spin cycle would work intermittently, creating frustration and unpredictable laundry results.

Diagnosis: We found the drive belt had stretched and worn to the point where it could no longer maintain consistent grip on the pulleys. When the belt slipped during the spin cycle, the drum would stop rotating even though the motor continued running.

Repair: Work: Replaced the drive belt · Parts: WH01X24697 — drive belt · Result: Spin cycle now operates consistently on all load sizes

Kenmore refrigerator (111.73025711) — Canton, OH

Diagnosis: Ice build-up around the fresh food evaporator fan was restricting airflow and preventing proper cooling. This ice accumulation was causing the refrigerator to work harder, generating excess heat in the door divider area. The customer mentioned that the door does get left open sometimes, which contributes to moisture entering the system and forming ice.

Repair: Work: Cleared ice buildup from around the evaporator fan · Parts: None required · Result: Proper airflow restored, cooling function returned to normal

Samsung washer (WA54R7600AC/US) — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer thought the latch on the lid was bad because it wouldn’t fill with water. This was a recently purchased floor model from Lowe’s that had just been moved to their home.

Repair: Work: Removed nail from drain impeller · Parts: No parts needed · Result: The washing machine is working correctly

Crosley refrigerator (CFUF14LW1) — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported their refrigerator won’t cool after power outage. The unit had been non-functional since a citywide power surge months earlier, leaving the family without proper refrigeration.

Diagnosis: Control board was fried in citywide power outage back around Thanksgiving. The electrical surge had damaged the electronic control system, preventing the refrigerator from operating its cooling cycle properly.

Repair: Work: Replaced the user interface/control on the front · Parts: 297370600 — Electronic control board · Result: Unit is again working correctly with proper cooling function restored

LG refrigerator — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported ice in freezer. This typically happens when the automatic defrost cycle can’t drain properly, causing meltwater to refreeze in unwanted areas.

Diagnosis: We found a plugged defrost drain blocking the normal water flow. When the defrost system melts frost buildup, that water needs somewhere to go — a blocked drain forces it to pool and refreeze.

Repair: Work: Cleared plugged defrost drain · Parts: No parts needed · Result: Everything is good to go

Samsung dryer (Dv56h9100ew/A2 01) — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported noise and grinding when the dryer was on. The grinding sound was occurring during operation, indicating a mechanical issue with one of the drum support components.

Frigidaire refrigerator (Fftr2021tw1) — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported that their Frigidaire refrigerator had icicles forming in the freezer. This type of frost buildup typically indicates air infiltration or drainage problems within the refrigerator’s sealed system.

Diagnosis: During our first service visit on June 4th, we found the ice maker fill line on the back of the fridge wasn’t fastened in properly. This loose connection was suspected to be allowing moist air in which caused the icicles. However, when we returned for a follow-up on June 10th, the unit was still frosting. Further inspection revealed the drain pan had slipped down and was covering the drain hole, creating additional moisture issues.

Repair: Work: Properly fastened ice maker fill line, refastened drain pan, and sealed the ice maker inlet valve · Parts: No parts required · Result: Eliminated moisture infiltration points that were causing ice formation

Maytag washer (MAT12CSAAL) — Canton, OH

Diagnosis: A sock was sucked onto the drain pump intake, preventing it from draining. If a washer can’t drain, typically it won’t do anything else. The blockage was completely stopping water flow, which caused the machine’s safety systems to prevent any operation.

Repair: Work: Accessed the drain pump by inserting a putty knife in the crack between the top of the washer and the top of the front panel, pushed the two tabs, and removed the sock from the pump intake · Parts: None required · Result: Washer drained properly and resumed normal operation

Whirlpool washer (Rtw4340SQ0) — Massillon, OH

Reported: The customer reported their washer was leaking from underneath. Water was pooling on the laundry room floor, creating concern about potential damage to the washer or flooring.

Diagnosis: Upon inspection, the washer is working fine. The floor drain that it runs onto has an obstruction and in certain situations it backs up. This creates the appearance of a washer leak when the actual issue is drainage.

Repair: Work: Diagnosed drainage issue · Parts: No parts needed · Result: Recommended calling Roto Rooter or the landlord to get the drain cleared out

Samsung refrigerator (RS265TDWP) — Massillon, OH

Reported: The customer reported their side by side fridge was not cooling well and needed a water filter change. Both the refrigerator and freezer sections were running warm despite the compressor operating normally.

Maytag washer (A104) — Minerva, OH

Reported: The customer reported a burning rubber smell when wash. This type of odor typically indicates mechanical components are overheating or belts are slipping under excessive load.

Diagnosis: The drain pump was locking up and causing the belt to slip. When a drain pump seizes, it creates excessive resistance that prevents the belt from turning properly, generating heat and that characteristic burning rubber smell.

Whirlpool Refrigerator; dishwasher (GX5SHDXVA00, GDT695SMJOES) — North Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported that the back of the freezer was icing up, causing the freezer to over-freeze while the fridge gets warm. The left side of the French door was noticeably hot, and the fridge wasn’t shutting off even briefly. For the dishwasher, there was a grinding noise from the bottom left of the unit upon draining that sounded like a small screw in the drain’s pump or impeller.

Diagnosis: On the refrigerator, I found the compressor relay on the fridge board was sticking and preventing the fridge from defrosting properly. This explained why the freezer was icing up and the unit wasn’t cycling normally. For the dishwasher, inspection revealed a piece of plastic lodged in the drain pump causing the grinding noise.

Reported: The customer reported their washer was not spinning. The machine was displaying F5E3 (lid unlock fault) and F8E1 (no fill, long fill) error codes, which typically suggest multiple component failures.

Diagnosis: A lid lock failure is a common error code and indicates user error more often than machine error. During our inspection, we discovered the cold water valve was off, which would have triggered the long fill error. We ran the machine through the manual diagnostic mode and all functions test properly.

Repair: Work: Turned on cold water valve, cleared error codes · Parts: None required · Result: All functions tested properly in diagnostic mode
