GE range (JB256DM1WW) — Akron, OH

Reported: The customer reported that their stove won’t turn off unless they unplug it. This is a clear indication of a control system malfunction that poses both safety and energy efficiency concerns.

Diagnosis: Testing revealed the main control board was malfunctioning, preventing the range from properly cycling off when commanded. The control board is the electronic brain of the range, managing all heating elements and timing functions.

Repair: Work: Replaced the main control board · Parts: WB27X29091 — Range oven control board · Result: Good to go. Preheated in 8 minutes and 15 seconds

Maytag oven/stove (MEW5630DDB) — Akron, OH

Reported: The customer reported that the keypad was not responding on their Maytag oven. This meant they couldn’t set cooking temperatures, times, or access any of the oven’s electronic functions.

Diagnosis: Upon inspection, we found that the TouchPad on the oven had failed. This is the electronic control interface that allows users to operate the oven’s various functions and settings.

Repair: Work: Due to the cost of the part, the customer decided to purchase a replacement oven instead · Result: We scheduled installation of the new appliance for approximately one week later

LG dryer (DLE7177RM) — Alliance, OH

Reported: The customer reported their LG dryer’s start button sticks and doesn’t turn on. The unit appeared completely unresponsive when the power button was pressed.

Diagnosis: Our inspection revealed the power button was stuck in position. This mechanical issue prevented the dryer from receiving the start signal and beginning its cycle.

Repair: Work: Loosened the stuck power button · Parts: None required · Result: Dryer is operating correctly

Samsung range (NX58J7750SS) — Alliance, OH

Reported: The customer contacted us because their double oven and only half of stove would heat up after using the self clean feature. This is a common issue with ranges after intensive cleaning cycles, as the high temperatures can stress ignition components.

Diagnosis: After examining the Samsung NX58J7750SS, we identified that the lower bake igniter had failed. The self-clean cycle’s extreme heat likely caused the igniter to weaken and stop functioning properly, preventing the lower oven from lighting.

Repair: Work: Replaced the lower bake igniter · Parts: DG94-01012A — Assembly Hot Surface · Result: Oven lit in 25 seconds and preheated lower oven in 8 minutes

LG washer (WM3670HVA) — Alliance, OH

Reported: The customer reported heavy leaking out the front of the washer while in wash cycle. The filter had been checked and was clean, leading to suspicion of a bad seal or some other issue causing the leak.

Diagnosis: Upon inspection, we found that the hose had come off the pressure switch in the back of the washing machine compartment. This disconnection caused the washer to overflow. Additionally, there was water leaking out the bottom of the front of the door due to cat hair and lint buildup on the door seal.

Repair: Work: Replaced the hose and cleaned cat hair and lint off the door seal · Parts: LAB-REPAIR APPLIANCE · Result: The washer is operating and cycling correctly with normal operation restored

Samsung dryer (DV40J3000EW/A2-00) — Alliance, OH

Reported: The customer reported their dryer would power up but would not run when the start button is pushed. All panel lights and displays worked, but pressing start produced no response from the drum or motor.

Diagnosis: Upon inspection, we discovered the motor was jammed with lint or some other obstruction. This blockage prevented the motor from turning when the start cycle was initiated, even though the control board was receiving and processing the start command properly.

Repair: Work: Freed the jammed motor from lint obstruction · Parts: DC61-02610A — Case Filter-Up (lint screen cover) · Result: After freeing the motor, operation returned to normal

Kenmore dryer (417.88042700) — Alliance, OH

Reported: The customer reported that their dryer worked before buying and they actually saw it turn on and spin. Once it was home they realized it was a 3 prong and needed a 4 prong, so they bought the cord they needed and switched it out to match the outlet. After the cord change, the dryer won’t do anything — no light when the door opens, nothing. Their current detector was picking up major signals in the outlet, the cord, and where the cord connects to the dryer.

Diagnosis: The outlet in the home was a four prong outlet but it was wired with a three wire conductor. This mismatch between the outlet configuration and the actual wiring created the electrical issues the homeowner detected.

Repair: Work: Diagnosed wiring mismatch between outlet and conductor · Parts: None — electrical wiring issue · Result: Identified two possible solutions for proper electrical connection

LG washer (WM0001HTMA) — Beloit, OH

Reported: The washer was leaking when running. The former owner had already indicated that the door seal needed to be replaced.

Diagnosis: Upon inspection, we found hair buildup around the door area and confirmed that the door boot required replacement. The accumulation of debris had compromised the seal’s effectiveness, allowing water to escape during operation.

Repair: Work: Cleaned hair from door and replaced the door boot · Parts: 4986ER0004G — Door boot gasket · Result: Washer tested with no leaks during operation

Bosch dishwasher (SHE65T55UC/02) — Beloit, OH

Reported: The customer reported they couldn’t get the dishwasher to run. It would turn on and the timer would run, but nothing else would happen — no water filling, no wash action, nothing.

Diagnosis: The dishwasher was used and had been improperly installed by a plumber. The unit was jammed against the supply hose and valve, kinking it off and preventing water flow. We also found screws through the bottom rear and top rear frame, fastening it to the floor and counter top. This unit is only supposed to be fastened through the OEM mounting clips into the front of the counter top or the face frame of the cabinets.

Repair: Work: Repositioned dishwasher to eliminate kinking of supply hose and valve; removed improper mounting screws from floor and countertop; properly secured unit using OEM mounting clips to front of countertop · Parts: None — installation correction only · Result: Dishwasher now fills with water and operates normally through all cycles

Frigidaire dishwasher (FFBD2411NS0A) — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported that when ran on the rinse cycle, water leaked all over floor. This type of leak typically indicates compromised door sealing components that can no longer maintain a watertight barrier during operation.

Diagnosis: Our examination found that the door shields and lower seal had deteriorated to the point where they could no longer prevent water from escaping during the dishwasher’s rinse cycle. These sealing components are critical for containing water within the wash chamber.

Repair: Work: Replaced the door shields and lower seal · Parts: 809006501 — gasket, 154701001 — splash shield kit · Result: Dishwasher now contains water properly during all cycles

Samsung refrigerator (RF22KREDBSG/AA) — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported the ice maker not working after defrosting it with a hair dryer. This aggressive defrosting method can damage sensitive electronic components and heating elements throughout the ice making system.

Diagnosis: Our inspection found that the hair dryer defrosting had compromised multiple critical components. The ice maker unit itself, main control board, and drain tube heater all showed signs of damage from the excessive heat exposure.

Repair: Work: Replaced the ice maker, main control board, drain tube heater and installed the Y-clip · Parts: DA82-02671A-A/S — ice maker, main control board, drain tube heater · Result: During reinstallation, customer accidentally knocked a wooden spacer under the fridge and sheared the water supply line

Diagnosis: The lid switch assembly showed clear signs of corrosion and mechanical failure. The switch mechanism that detects lid closure was no longer functioning, leaving the washer unable to begin its cycle regardless of lid position.

Repair: Work: Replaced the lid switch · Parts: WP3949238 — lid switch · Result: Issue is resolved and operation of the washer is normal

LG washer (WM2487HRM) — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported that their LG washer possibly had a drain pump that was clogged or bad. The washer was having drainage issues that prevented normal operation.

Diagnosis: When we examined the washer, we confirmed the drain pump was noisy and not pumping water out like it should. The bearings and boot looked good, so the issue was isolated to the drain pump assembly.

Reported: The customer called because their JennAir oven had broil bake convect preheat not working on panel. The stove had clock and timer function only. When pressing these buttons, it would beep once, when pressing any of the other buttons, it would beep twice.

Diagnosis: The control panel was responding to some inputs but not others, with different beep patterns indicating the system was receiving commands but not processing cooking functions. This pointed to a control board communication issue that could potentially be resolved with a reset procedure.

Repair: Work: We unplugged the stove for a few minutes and reset it · Parts: None · Result: After resetting it, operation is normal

Kenmore washer (11026132410) — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer’s Kenmore washer was displaying an LF error code and wouldn’t fill with water. This prevented the wash cycle from starting properly, leaving the machine completely inoperable.

Admiral oven/stove (EST307) — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer contacted us because their oven won’t heat up. When they turned on the bake function, the oven remained cold and wouldn’t reach the set temperature.

Reported: The agitator was broken (literally) and needed to be replaced. Initially, it was a loose screw but a friend tried to superglue it back and shortly later it twisted off. The washer may be leaking oil now, and makes a loud squeaking noise when it is spinning and some clothes look like they may be getting stained.

Diagnosis: The transmission and wash plate were both bad on the washer. What appeared to be a simple agitator issue was actually symptoms of major internal component failure affecting the entire wash system.

Repair: Work: Complete diagnostic assessment · Parts: None — unit beyond economical repair · Result: Customer decided to replace the unit

GE Washer; dryer (PFDS450EL0WW) — North Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported a burning smell and sound change from their GE dryer. They also requested routine maintenance on the matching washer in the set.

Diagnosis: The dryer vent tested as heavily obstructed. The flexible line from the wall to the dryer was somewhat deteriorated and leaking a bit of dryer exhaust so that may have affected the noise change. The main power cord to the control board on the dryer was burnt and melted from a loose connection. It was melted bad enough that it was fastened to the board and could not be removed without destroying the board. The control board is no longer available. On the washing machine, the drum is somewhat loose with evident bearing or drum support failure.

Repair: Work: Diagnostic testing and safety assessment · Parts: No parts available for repair · Result: Unit deemed unsafe for operation and replacement recommended

GE washer (GTW330ASK0WW) — Paris, OH

Reported: The customer reported that while the inside turns easily by hand, it sounds like it is rubbing and making a squealing sound when running. It ultimately unbalances the load causing the machine to shake and move.

Diagnosis: Upon inspection, I found the transmission had failed and was leaking water. This explained both the squealing sounds and the unbalancing issues the customer was experiencing.

Repair: Work: Installed a new transmission · Parts: WH38X27335 — Platform Trans Asm Kit LE, WH02X27479 — TL15 Washer Fasteners · Result: Issue is resolved and machine is operating normally

Kenmore dishwasher (665.13963K015) — Salem, OH

Reported: The customer reported their Kenmore dishwasher starts to cycle then shuts off, then goes into drain mode. This pattern prevented any normal wash cycles from completing.

Diagnosis: The user interface appears to have failed. Several of the lights on it stay lit constantly and it appears to be aborting the cycle due to a stuck key. The control panel was sending continuous signals that caused the dishwasher to terminate wash cycles prematurely.

Repair: Work: Diagnosed failed user interface · Parts: No parts recorded · Result: Customer will replace the unit

Kenmore dishwasher (665.12773k310) — Uniontown, OH

Reported: The customer reported issues with their Kenmore dishwasher and suspected the inlet valve might be the culprit.

Diagnosis: During our inspection, we found the dishwasher needed a wash pump and diverter valve. These are major components that work together to circulate water throughout the wash cycles.
