Repairs completed the week of December 15, 2025 across Akron, Alliance, Canton, Carrollton, Clinton, East Canton and more.
Samsung Refrigerator; dishwasher (Kitchen Fridge: RF267ABRS, Dishwasher: MDB6759AW51) — Akron, OH
Reported: The Samsung RF267ABRS refrigerator had ice built up below the cool select pantry drawer. The Maytag MDB6759AW51 dishwasher would lean forward during operation, preventing it from completing its wash cycles when this occurred.
Diagnosis: The refrigerator’s ice buildup indicated a defrost system issue affecting the evaporator area. The dishwasher’s forward-leaning problem was related to its installation positioning within the cabinets.
Repair: Work: Extended defrost time on the refrigerator, installed updated drain tubes and heater probe, replaced evaporator cover assembly and defrost sensor, adjusted dishwasher positioning into cabinets · Parts: DA32-00027B sensor temp, DA97-06197N cover assembly-evap ref, 8212560 bracket-mounting · Result: Issues resolved on both appliances
Frigidaire refrigerator (fghb2866pf) — Akron, OH
Reported: The customer reported that the ice maker evaporator was frozen. The ice maker wasn’t working despite the refrigerator being recently purchased.
Diagnosis: Upon examination, it was obvious that the ice maker air handler kit had been installed previously. However it was installed incorrectly. The wires on the side of the evaporator were not taped in the proper location, and tape was not installed over the shelf rails. This in turn caused the evaporator to continue to frost up.
Repair: Work: Reinstalled the air handler kit properly · Parts: No parts used · Result: Operation should be normal from here forward
Whirlpool refrigerator (GI5SVAXVL01) — Alliance, OH

Reported: The refrigerator’s front panel display was lit but stuck showing zeros across all readouts. None of the dispenser buttons responded to input, and the customer couldn’t adjust temperature settings or access ice or water. With the control board failing to process commands, they had no way to verify if their food was staying at safe temperatures.
Diagnosis: Testing revealed the main control board had failed completely. While it was receiving power and lighting the display, it wasn’t processing any input signals from the dispenser buttons or temperature controls. The board wasn’t communicating with the cooling system either, leaving the customer unable to monitor or adjust refrigerator functions. This type of failure typically happens when internal circuitry degrades over time.
Repair: Work: Removed failed control board, installed replacement, and reconnected all wiring harnesses · Parts: WPW10310240 — main control board · Result: Display shows proper temperatures, dispenser buttons respond normally, and all functions verified working
Whirlpool dishwasher (GU1200XTKQ0) — Alliance, OH
Reported: The customer reported their Whirlpool dishwasher won’t drain. They had already tried shutting off the electric to it for 15 to 20 minutes to see if that would fix it, but it did not resolve the issue.
Diagnosis: Testing revealed the drain pump had failed completely. The drain line also showed signs of buildup that would need to be cleared during the repair process.
Repair: Work: Installed a new drain pump and cleaned out the line · Parts: WP661658 — drain pump · Result: Issue is resolved and dishwasher is functioning properly
Whirlpool washer (WTW4950XW2) — Alliance, OH
Reported: The customer reported their Whirlpool washer won’t rinse and now won’t go into wash cycle. The unit had stopped performing its basic wash functions completely.
Diagnosis: Our inspection revealed the washer was leaking water out of the transmission. This internal leak prevented proper operation and indicated the transmission assembly had failed.
Whirlpool dryer (WGD5521SQ0) — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported their WGD5521SQ0 dryer developed a loud rumbling and squealing noise from the motor area. Shortly after starting each cycle, an electrical burning smell would fill the laundry room. The dryer would still tumble clothes, but the concerning sounds and odor made it unsafe to operate.
Diagnosis: Testing revealed the drive motor was drawing excessive amperage and overheating rapidly. The motor bearings had failed internally, causing the grinding noise and electrical smell from overworked windings. We inspected the drum rollers, idler pulley, and drive belt — all were in good condition, confirming the motor as the sole culprit.
Repair: Work: Removed old motor, installed new drive motor, verified belt tension and drum alignment · Parts: 279827 — drive motor assembly · Result: Dryer runs quietly with normal operation and no odors
Kenmore refrigerator (795.70333.40) — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported that their ice maker had stopped making ice entirely, though the water dispenser still functioned. The ice maker would attempt to cycle but never completed the harvest process, leaving old ice stuck in the mold.
Diagnosis: Water supply to the unit was fine — the working dispenser confirmed the solenoid valve and water lines were intact. Inside the ice maker assembly, we found the drive head had stripped its gears. This plastic component connects the motor to the harvest mechanism, and when it fails, the ice maker can’t eject completed cubes or advance to the next cycle.
Repair: Work: Removed old ice maker, installed new assembly, reconnected water and electrical connections · Parts: AEQ73110210 — complete ice maker assembly kit · Result: Ice maker cycled properly and began filling with fresh water
GE range (JBP26WB4WW) — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported that two of the four surface burners weren’t heating at all, while the other two worked normally. This type of partial failure typically points to individual element problems rather than a control board issue.
Diagnosis: Testing confirmed both non-working elements had open circuits with no continuity. The burner receptacles showed clear signs of heat damage and arcing where the elements plugged in. This combination of failed elements and damaged receptacles is common when elements overheat due to poor connections, eventually burning out both components.
Repair: Work: Replaced both failed elements and heat-damaged burner receptacles · Parts: 4392061 — surface heating elements (2) · Result: All four burners now heat evenly with proper electrical connections
Maytag dishwasher (MDB4949SDZ0) — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported that wash cycles would start normally, but the dishwasher would only fill to about a half-inch depth before proceeding with the wash program. Dishes came out dirty because there wasn’t enough water to properly circulate and clean. The unit would complete its cycle timing, but without adequate water levels throughout.
Diagnosis: We first verified the water supply was functioning and checked for obvious blockages. The inlet screen was clear, the float moved freely, and household water pressure was normal. Using a multimeter, we tested for 120V output from the control board to the inlet valve during the fill cycle — there was none. The control board had failed internally and wasn’t energizing the water valve, causing the premature fill termination.
Repair: Work: Removed old control board, installed replacement, and reconnected all wire harnesses · Parts: W10906430 — main electronic control board · Result: Ran full diagnostic cycle with proper water fill levels and complete wash program
Whirlpool washer (WTW5500XW2) — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported smoke coming from the top of their washer during the cycle, accompanied by an electrical burning odor. The washer was still running but the smoke was visible enough to stop the cycle immediately. Smart move — electrical components that smoke are fire hazards.
Diagnosis: The run capacitor had failed catastrophically. These cylindrical components store electrical charge to help the motor start and maintain proper speed during operation. When they fail, they often bulge, leak electrolyte, and overheat to the point of smoking. Our capacitance test confirmed it was completely out of specification. The motor and wiring harness checked out fine once we removed the failed component.
Repair: Work: Removed bulged capacitor, installed replacement, secured all connections · Parts: W10804664 — run capacitor · Result: No smoke, no odor, normal agitation and spin cycles restored
Amana refrigerator (SBDE21VP) — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported their refrigerator had completely stopped working. No cooling, no water from the dispenser, and the unit appeared dead. They’d lost power to the entire refrigeration system overnight.
Diagnosis: Testing revealed a failed defrost thermostat that had caused the system to lock up in defrost mode. The water inlet valve had also failed internally, preventing water flow to the dispenser. When the defrost thermostat fails closed, it can prevent the compressor from running properly, which explained the complete cooling failure.
Repair: Work: Removed failed thermostat from evaporator assembly, installed new unit, replaced water valve behind refrigerator, tested defrost cycle operation · Parts: ML45 defrost thermostat and WP12544101 water inlet valve · Result: Compressor resumed normal operation, water dispensing restored, all functions verified
Whirlpool refrigerator (GB22DKXGW00) — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported that their garage-located refrigerator’s fresh food section wasn’t cooling properly, though the freezer compartment maintained normal temperatures. Food items in the refrigerator section were spoiling due to inadequate cooling, creating an urgent repair situation.
Diagnosis: Opening the freezer revealed an evaporator coil completely packed with frost buildup. The evaporator fan was running but couldn’t circulate air through the ice blockage. Testing the defrost thermostat showed it remained open even when cold — a clear failure that prevented the defrost cycle from running. Without periodic defrost cycles, frost accumulated until it blocked all airflow from the freezer to the fresh food section.
Repair: Work: Removed old thermostat, cleared frost buildup from evaporator coil, installed new defrost thermostat · Parts: ML50 — defrost thermostat · Result: Defrost cycle now functions properly, temperatures normalized in both compartments
Amana dishwasher (ADB1500AWB) — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported the dishwasher door wouldn’t close properly and cycles wouldn’t start. When pressed, the door would bounce back open instead of engaging the latch mechanism that signals the control board to begin operation.
Diagnosis: Inspection revealed a visibly cracked and loose door latch assembly. The plastic housing had failed where the strike mechanism engages, preventing the door from securing in the closed position. The door strike alignment and hinges were checked and found to be true, confirming the latch itself was the root cause.
Repair: Work: Removed failed latch, installed new assembly, verified strike alignment · Parts: W10862259 — door latch assembly · Result: Door closes securely, control recognizes door closed status, cycles run normally
Whirlpool dryer (WED5200VQ1) — Canton, OH
Reported: The customer reported extended dry time with their Whirlpool dryer. Clothes were taking much longer than normal to dry completely during regular cycles.
Diagnosis: No heat. Timer failed. Our inspection also revealed the vent is heavily obstructed and needs cleaned, which would contribute to the extended drying times even after the timer repair.
Repair: Work: Replaced timer · Parts: Wpw10185982 — Timer · Result: Good to go
GE washer (PTW600BSR1WS) — Canton, OH
Reported: The customer called with a lid that had cracked on their GE washer model PTW600BSR1WS. A cracked lid prevents the washer from operating safely, as the lid switch system cannot engage properly with a damaged lid assembly.
Diagnosis: Upon inspection, we confirmed the lid assembly was cracked and needed replacement. The existing lid showed damage that would prevent proper closure and safety system operation.
Repair: Work: Replaced lid. Strike broke when moving it over, so shipping a new strike to customer free of charge · Parts: WH10X35297 — Lid assembly, WH01X32866 — Strike · Result: Good to go. New strike should arrive Friday or Monday

LG oven (LWD3010ST) — Massillon, OH

Reported: The customer reported that their upper oven stopped heating completely after running a self-clean cycle. The lower oven continued working normally, but the upper cavity wouldn’t heat for baking, broiling, or convection cooking. They had already tried resetting the circuit breaker, but the oven remained cold.
Diagnosis: Testing revealed the high-limit thermostat had opened and would not reset. This safety component is designed to cut power to the heating elements when temperatures exceed safe limits. During self-clean cycles, ovens reach 800-900°F, which can sometimes cause these thermostats to trip permanently. All heating elements tested within specifications, and the cavity ventilation fan operated normally.
Repair: Work: Replaced failed thermostat, verified all heating elements and ventilation fan operation · Parts: EBG51439303 — High-limit thermostat · Result: Upper oven now heats normally and preheats to 350°F in approximately 10 minutes
Whirlpool range (WFG320M0BS0) — Massillon, OH

Reported: The customer reported their oven wouldn’t ignite at all. When it occasionally did light, it couldn’t maintain the set temperature, cycling on and off unpredictably. This made any kind of consistent baking impossible.
Diagnosis: The bake igniter was drawing insufficient current to open the gas valve. Over time, these igniters weaken and can’t reach the amperage needed to signal for gas flow. Even when they glow orange, they may lack the electrical strength to complete the ignition sequence.
Repair: Work: Removed old igniter, installed new assembly, tested gas valve operation · Parts: W10918546 — bake igniter assembly · Result: Oven lit in 58 seconds and preheated to 350°F in 7.5 minutes

Samsung dryer (DV48H7400EW/A2) — Minerva, OH

Reported: The customer reported their Samsung DV48H7400EW/A2 dryer was running through cycles but producing no heat. Clothes came out damp even after extended dry times, and the drum felt cool to the touch during operation.
Diagnosis: We confirmed the no-heat complaint and inspected the heater assembly and safety thermostats. The heating element showed continuity failure, and the associated thermostats had also failed. This is common on this Samsung model when the heating element burns out — it often takes the protective thermostats with it.
Repair: Work: Removed failed heater assembly, installed new heating element with integrated thermostats · Parts: DC97-14486A — heating element assembly with thermostats · Result: Heat output restored, normal dry times returned during test cycle
Maytag dryer (MEDC465HWO) — Minerva, OH

Reported: The homeowner reported a distinct rubber smell coming from their MEDC465HWO during operation. They were concerned the drive belt might be failing, which would eventually stop the drum from turning. The dryer was still running cycles normally, but the odor appeared sporadically during use.
Diagnosis: We ran both timed and auto-dry cycles to reproduce the issue under load. The drum turned smoothly, heat came up properly, and cycling completed as expected. We inspected the drive belt path through the rear access panel — no visible cracking, fraying, or glazing on the belt surface. The belt tension felt correct, and the idler pulley moved freely. During our extended test cycles, we could not reproduce the rubber odor the customer described.
Repair: Work: Complete diagnostic inspection and operational testing · Parts: None required · Result: Dryer cycling properly with no detectable odors during testing
GE washer (WBSR3140D5WW) — Minerva, OH

Reported: The customer reported their GE WBSR3140D5WW washer would complete the wash cycle but refuse to spin, leaving clothes drenched in dirty water. The tub remained full at the end of every cycle, making it impossible to remove laundry without creating a flood.
Diagnosis: Testing revealed 120V reaching the drain pump, but the motor wasn’t responding. Physical inspection showed the pump impeller had seized completely, and electrical testing confirmed the motor windings were open — a double failure that’s common when pumps run dry or encounter debris. The pump housing showed signs of corrosion from hard water minerals, which likely contributed to the seizure.
Repair: Work: Removed old pump, cleared drain path, installed new pump with proper electrical connections · Parts: WH23X10030 — drain pump assembly · Result: Washer now drains completely in under two minutes and spins at full speed
Kenmore range/oven (36275191893) — Minerva, OH

Reported: The customer reported that their oven burner wouldn’t ignite and there was no gas smell when attempting to use the oven. The cooktop burners and digital clock continued working normally, which pointed to an oven-specific ignition issue rather than a main gas supply problem.
Diagnosis: Testing revealed the bake igniter wasn’t glowing when the oven was turned on. The igniter circuit showed open continuity with no current draw, confirming the igniter had failed. Additionally, the bake burner tube showed corrosion and warping from years of heat cycles, which would affect gas distribution even with a working igniter.
Repair: Work: Removed old corroded burner tube and failed igniter, installed new burner and igniter assembly · Parts: WB13K10013 — burner and glow bar assembly · Result: Oven ignites quickly and reaches set temperature reliably
GE range (PGB960SEJ6SS) — Minerva, OH

Admiral dryer (Dbxr453ev0ww) — New Philadelphia, OH
Reported: The customer reported that their dryer was tripping the circuit breaker. Every time they tried to run a cycle, the breaker would trip, cutting power to the appliance.
Diagnosis: The cycling thermostat had a bad connection and was causing the breaker to trip. This component regulates the drum temperature during the drying cycle, and when its electrical connection fails, it can create an overload condition that triggers the home’s circuit protection.
Repair: Work: Replaced the thermostat and installed a new door handle · Parts: WE4M216 — thermostat bias drum out, WE01X20580 — handle door · Result: Operation is normal
LG appliance (LFX31945ST/02) — North Canton, OH

Reported: The refrigerator was cooling normally, but a loud grinding noise was coming from the freezer section. The customer noticed the sound was intermittent at first but had become constant over the past week. The noise was clearly mechanical, not electrical, and seemed to worsen when the compressor cycled on.
Diagnosis: We isolated the noise to the freezer evaporator fan assembly behind the back panel. The fan motor bearings showed significant play when tested manually, and there were light ice contact marks on the fan shroud. While there wasn’t heavy frost buildup, the worn bearings allowed enough wobble for the fan blades to occasionally scrape against ice formation. This LG model’s evaporator fan is critical for proper air circulation between the freezer and refrigerator compartments.
Repair: Work: Removed freezer contents and back panel, disconnected old fan motor, installed new fan assembly with proper wiring connections · Parts: AEB73785615 — freezer evaporator fan assembly with built-in heater · Result: Noise completely eliminated, airflow restored to proper levels, temperatures stable throughout both compartments
KitchenAid dishwasher (KUDC10FXBL1) — North Canton, OH

Reported: The KUDC10FXBL1 wasn’t getting any water during the fill cycle, and what little water did make it through wasn’t reaching the upper spray arm. Dishes came out just as dirty as they went in, with food particles still stuck on plates and glasses.
Diagnosis: We pulled the lower dish rack and bottom spray arm to access the food grinder assembly. The grinder screen was packed solid with food debris, coffee grounds, and small particles that had accumulated over time. This blockage prevented proper water circulation and starved the spray arms of the pressure they need for effective cleaning.
Repair: Work: Removed and thoroughly cleaned food grinder screen, cleared all debris from grinder housing, reassembled components · Parts: None — cleaning service only · Result: Full water flow restored, strong spray pressure from both arms, normal wash cycle operation
GE refrigerator (TBF17DB) — North Canton, OH

Reported: The customer called when their refrigerator’s freezer section stopped maintaining temperature, followed by the fresh food compartment warming up. The unit was running but not cooling either section effectively.
Diagnosis: The condenser fan motor had failed completely. When the compressor ran, the fan remained still, creating poor airflow across the condenser coils. Without proper heat removal, the compressor overheated and couldn’t maintain the refrigeration cycle. This is a common failure point on older GE refrigerators where the fan motor bearings seize up over time.
Repair: Work: Removed rear access panel, disconnected failed motor, installed new fan assembly · Parts: WX4X988 — condenser fan motor · Result: Both freezer and refrigerator sections returned to proper temperatures within hours
JennAir range (JER8885QAS) — North Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported their JennAir JER8885QAS range was completely unresponsive. No display lights, no burner ignition, and pressing any button did nothing. The range had power coming to it, but the control system was dead.
Diagnosis: We verified 240V power was reaching the range properly, then tested the electronic control board. The board showed no relay activity and wasn’t sending signals to any heating elements or ignition systems. The control board had failed internally — a common issue on this model after 8-10 years of service. Heat cycling and electrical stress eventually cause the board’s circuits to deteriorate.
Repair: Work: Removed old control board, installed new board, reconnected all wiring harnesses · Parts: Electronic control board (part number varies by production date) · Result: All burners igniting properly, oven heating correctly, display and controls fully responsive
Electrolux dryer (EFME617STTP) — North Canton, OH

Reported: The homeowner reported that clothes were taking much longer to dry, and they suspected something had been pulled into the dryer during the last load. When they moved the unit to investigate, they noticed the flexible vent hose behind it had become severely kinked and partially collapsed. The exterior vent hood showed very little airflow even when the dryer was running.
Diagnosis: Opening the blower housing revealed a sock completely lodged in the impeller, blocking normal air circulation. The vent hose had been crushed when the dryer was pushed back against the wall, creating a secondary restriction. Lint buildup around both the blower area and duct entrance confirmed the airflow had been compromised for some time. This combination meant the dryer was working against two major obstructions.
Repair: Work: Removed sock from blower housing, cleaned lint from internal pathways, installed properly positioned vent line · Parts: New flexible vent hose and clamps · Result: Strong airflow restored at exterior vent, normal dry times resumed
Admiral washer (WA42T26GW1) — North Canton, OH

Reported: The washer showed no signs of life when first powered on. After being unplugged and reset, it would start normally for about 10 seconds before dying again. The customer had already checked the outlet and tried different cycles, but the behavior remained consistent — brief power, then complete shutdown.
Diagnosis: We confirmed 120V supply voltage at both the outlet and the control board input terminals. However, the board wasn’t producing any DC logic voltage for the control circuits. The lid switch tested good, and all wiring connections were secure. The control board’s internal power regulation had failed, causing it to shut down when the logic circuits tried to draw power. This is a common failure mode in Admiral washers of this generation, especially when exposed to power surges.
Repair: Work: Removed old control board, transferred wire harnesses to new board, secured mounting hardware · Parts: 429211USP — main control board assembly · Result: Stable power-up with full display function and proper cycle operation
Whirlpool dryer (WET3300XQ1) — North Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported their WET3300XQ1 dryer was completely unresponsive. No lights, no sounds, nothing happened when they pressed the start button. The unit had been working fine the day before but suddenly went dead.
Diagnosis: We tested the thermal fuse with a multimeter and confirmed it was open — no continuity. This small component sits on the blower housing and acts as a safety switch. When the dryer overheats due to restricted airflow or other issues, the thermal fuse burns out to prevent potential fire hazards. Once blown, it must be replaced before the dryer will operate again.
Repair: Work: Removed blower housing cover, replaced blown thermal fuse, reassembled unit · Parts: WP3392519 — thermal fuse · Result: Dryer started immediately and completed full test cycle normally
LG washer (WT7600HWA) — North Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported their LG top-load washer wasn’t draining water at all. Clothes came out dripping wet, and standing water remained in the tub after every wash cycle. The washer would attempt to spin but couldn’t remove the water effectively.
Diagnosis: We checked the drain hose first — no kinks or clogs found. The issue was internal: the drain pump motor had failed completely. When we tested it, the pump showed no electrical continuity and wouldn’t activate during the drain cycle. This is a common failure point on this LG model after several years of use, especially in areas with hard water that can accelerate pump wear.
Repair: Work: Removed old pump, installed new assembly, reconnected hoses and wiring · Parts: 5859EA1004G — drain pump assembly · Result: Ran full test cycle with complete drainage and proper spin performance
