Diagnosis: Testing revealed a failed main control board that was no longer sending power to the oven cavity. When these boards fail on KitchenAid dual fuel ranges, they often take the thermal fuse with them as a protective measure. We also found the circulation fan had stopped working, likely due to the power interruption when the board failed.

Diagnosis: Visual inspection showed excessive frost buildup on the evaporator coils, blocking proper airflow. Testing the defrost system revealed the defrost heater element had burned out completely, preventing the automatic defrost cycle from melting accumulated ice. Without this cycle, the coils stayed frozen and couldn’t transfer heat effectively, causing the cooling failure.

Reported: The customer reported that their dryer was running but clothes remained damp after full cycles. The telltale signs pointed to a compromised exhaust system that wasn’t properly venting hot, moist air outside.

Diagnosis: We accessed the vent connection point and found the flexible plastic vent had broken inside the floor cavity. The original plastic ducting had deteriorated over time, creating gaps that allowed heated air to escape into the crawl space instead of being properly exhausted outdoors. This type of failure is common with plastic venting, especially in high-moisture environments where the material becomes brittle.

Repair: Work: Removed broken plastic ducting, installed aluminum flexible venting with proper connections · Parts: Vntaf496 — aluminum flexible dryer vent · Result: Verified proper airflow and exhaust function through complete dry cycle test

Kenmore dryer (417.91122310) — Louisville, OH

Reported: Not turning on

Admiral Washer; dryer (Dexter, Wasco,) — Louisville, OH

Reported: The facility reported several malfunctions across their commercial laundry equipment. The new top loader had a coin acceptor that was pushed back and needed securing. The Wasco 31 dryer wouldn’t start, and another dryer’s lint filter drawer was completely stuck and couldn’t be opened.

Diagnosis: On the new top loader, the coin acceptor was missing a nut on one side, causing it to be pushed back and unsecured. For the Wasco 31 that wouldn’t start, the coin slide wasn’t engaging with the lever to start the machine and needed a spring on the coin acceptor. The dryer with the stuck lint filter had a failed lock assembly preventing the drawer from sliding in and out. The dryers also needed a good clean out in the back.

Repair: Work: Secured coin acceptor with missing nut, installed spring on coin acceptor for Wasco 31, removed failed lock assembly temporarily, cleaned out dryers in the back · Parts: New door and timer on washing machine, new thermostat on dryer, new lock assembly for lint filter drawer · Result: All machines restored to working order with coin mechanisms functioning and lint filter accessible

Reported: You were out a few weeks ago. The baring was squeaking and didn’t have a replacement at the time. It has gotten worse. I’m sorry, I’m at work and don’t have the model # with me.

Reported: The dishwasher won’t drain. After the cycle there is standing water in the bottom up to and over the heating coils. I tried to remove the cover inside, used baking soda and vinegar and even tried to snake the drain tube from the disposal. None of it helped drain the clog.

Reported: The customer reported their dryer wouldn’t respond at all — no lights, no sounds, completely dead. They had been doing laundry normally when it just stopped working between loads. The timing made them suspect a power surge or internal component failure.

Diagnosis: Upon inspection, we found the drum severely overloaded with waterlogged blankets and heavy towels. Admiral dryers have weight sensors that shut down the entire unit when the load exceeds safe operating limits. The excessive weight triggered this safety lockout, which requires a manual reset even after the load is corrected.

Repair: Work: Removed excess clothing, performed system reset · Parts: None required · Result: Full functionality restored, all cycles operating normally

Reported: The dryer would run through its cycles normally, but produced no heat whatsoever. Clothes remained damp even after extended drying times. The customer noticed the issue had developed gradually over several loads before heat output stopped completely.

Diagnosis: We pulled the front panel to access the burner assembly and found the igniter completely dark during the heat cycle. The flame sensor (part WP338906) tested faulty with our multimeter — it wasn’t sending the proper signal to allow gas flow to the burner. This is a common failure point on Maytag gas dryers, especially models that see regular use.

Diagnosis: After inspecting the unit, we traced the leak to a faulty water valve assembly. This component controls water flow into the washer tub, and when it fails, water can leak from the valve housing rather than being properly directed through the system.

Reported: The door us locked..wont release…not spinning clothes…have to run a xtra spin on every wash. the water is not coming into the washer very fast. changed the hoses…the problem continues.

When defrost water couldn’t flow through the normal drainage path, it was backing up and leaking out the front of the unit. The existing drain system needed both clearing and a heat probe installation to prevent future freeze-ups in this location.

Reported: 1. Agitator stays stagnant when the washer is running. The washer is functional but the agitator doesn’t oscillate. Doesn’t move 2. The lid is off the hinge. Wont stay up. Thank you. Diagnosis: We removed the front panel and top to access the drum assembly. The idler pulley showed significant wear with visible grooves from the belt, and one of the drum support rollers had developed flat spots and rough bearings. These worn components created metal-on-metal contact and belt slippage, generating the characteristic screeching sound.

Whirlpool dryer — North Canton, OH

Reported: The dryer would tumble clothes normally and complete its cycle, but garments came out just as damp as when they went in. No heat was being generated despite the unit appearing to function normally in all other respects.

Diagnosis: Testing the heating element showed it had failed completely — no continuity across the terminals. The door switch also tested faulty, which prevents the heating circuit from engaging even when other components are working. In Whirlpool gas dryers, both components must function properly for the ignition system to operate and produce heat.

Diagnosis: Upon inspection, we found that the push tab on coin slide was worn where it connected with timer. The wear had created enough play in the connection that the timer wasn’t receiving consistent activation signals from the coin mechanism.

Diagnosis: The harness with surface igniter switches had failed. When igniter switches wear out or corrode, they can prevent proper gas flow to the burners even when the ignitor is functioning normally.
