The week of June 30, 2025, Louisville Appliance Repair completed 51 in-home appliance repairs across Alliance, Beloit, Canton, Carrollton and nearby Stark County communities. Here is a rundown of the work.

Repairs completed the week of June 30, 2025 across Alliance, Beloit, Canton, Carrollton, Dellroy, East Sparta and more.

Whirlpool refrigerator — Alliance, OH

Reported: The customer reported water leaking out from inside the freezer drawer compartment. This created a messy situation with ice buildup that made the freezer difficult to use properly.

Diagnosis: The defrost drain in the back was obstructed, causing the refrigerator defrost water to run out the front of the drawer and create sheet ice inside the freezer compartment. When the defrost cycle runs, water needs to drain properly through this line — when blocked, it has nowhere to go but forward into the freezer space.

Repair: Work: Cleared the ice from the evaporator trough and freezer floor as well as the obstruction in the drain line · Parts: No parts required · Result: Defrost water now drains properly without leaking into the freezer compartment

Frigidaire freezer (Lffh22F7HWG) — Alliance, OH

Reported: The customer reported their Frigidaire freezer was not cooling properly. This is a critical issue that can lead to food spoilage and complete loss of frozen items if not addressed quickly.

Diagnosis: Our diagnosis required multiple scheduled visits to properly identify the root cause of the cooling failure. Through systematic troubleshooting, we determined the issue could be resolved through service procedures rather than parts replacement.

Repair: Work: Service procedures to restore cooling function · Parts: No parts required · Result: Freezer returned to proper cooling operation

Fisher & paykel dryer (DE7027G1US) — Beloit, OH

Reported: The customer reported that the dryer starts as soon as they close the door and produces no heat. This unusual behavior indicated an electrical control issue rather than a typical heating problem.

Diagnosis: The motor relay was stuck, causing the dryer to spin constantly if the door was closed. This relay controls when the motor should run during normal cycle operation, and when it sticks in the closed position, it bypasses the normal start controls.

Repair: Work: Tapped the relay to reset it temporarily · Parts: None at initial service call · Result: Motor relay reset and dryer returned to normal operation

Kenmore washer (110.21102013) — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported that the knob to choose what size load (S, M, L) won’t turn. The machine stays on agitation mode without agitating and makes a continuous rhythmic noise but drum doesn’t move.

Diagnosis: The washer displayed error codes F8 E3 and F8 E1. However, the machine operated properly in manual test mode, which pointed to a faulty load size switch selector rather than motor or transmission problems.

Repair: Work: Repaired the load size switch selector and calibrated the machine · Parts: No parts recorded · Result: Machine operated properly after repair and calibration

Whirlpool washer (LA7681XS) — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported their washing machine had started to squeak during the spin cycle. This Whirlpool washer was over 30 years old, but the owner loved it and wanted to keep it running rather than replace it.

Diagnosis: During our inspection, we found the washer operation seemed normal. The squeaking may be minor bearing wear typical of a machine this age, but not severe enough to require immediate intervention.

Repair: Work: Inspection and operational assessment · Parts: None · Result: Washer operation seems normal overall

Admiral freezer (FREEZER) — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported their Admiral freezer was not freezing like it should. Poor temperature control in a freezer typically points to airflow restrictions or mechanical failures within the cooling system.

Diagnosis: We discovered the defrost drain was plugged. This caused excessive ice buildup and poor air circulation throughout the freezer compartment, preventing proper temperature maintenance.

Repair: Work: Cleared the plugged defrost drain · Parts: LAB-REPAIR APPLIANCE · Result: After clearing the drain its good to go

Whirlpool refrigerator (WRF736SDAM13) — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported their fridge was at 55 degrees since last night. They also noticed a loud humming sound coming from the unit.

Diagnosis: We found the defrost thermostat was open, which meant it couldn’t properly regulate the defrost cycle. This caused the evaporator fan assembly to malfunction, leading to poor cooling performance and the loud humming noise the customer heard.

Repair: Work: Replaced fan assembly with defrost thermostat · Parts: WPW10514110 — evaporator motor assembly with defrost thermostat · Result: Refrigerator returned to proper cooling temperatures and noise eliminated

Samsung washer (WF42H5000AW/A2) — Canton, OH

Repair: Work: I cleaned the cold water screen and the dispenser tray · Parts: None — cleaning resolved the issue · Result: Issue resolved — proper water flow restored

JennAir dishwasher (JDB1080AWS) — Canton, OH

Reported: The dishwasher was leaking from underneath. Water was coming through the basement ceiling, indicating a significant leak that needed immediate attention.

Diagnosis: The float switch was leaking where it passes through the tub. This is a common failure point where the grommet seal can deteriorate over time, allowing water to escape during the wash cycle.

Repair: Work: Reinstalled the grommet around the float switch · Parts: Grommet reinstallation · Result: Good to go

Whirlpool refrigerator (ED5LVAXVQ00) — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported temperature varying between 30 and 40 degrees that rose to 60. They had vacuumed out the bottom coils hoping to resolve the issue temporarily, but the refrigerator continued running too warm for safe food storage.

Diagnosis: Testing revealed a faulty cold control thermostat that was no longer maintaining proper temperature regulation. This component controls when the compressor cycles on and off to maintain set temperatures, and when it fails, temperatures can fluctuate wildly or climb to unsafe levels.

Repair: Work: Replaced the cold control thermostat · Parts: WP2315562 — Cold control thermostat · Result: Unit now maintains proper cooling temperatures consistently

LG refrigerator (LRFXS2503S/00) — Canton, OH

Reported: The tray on the ice maker is broken and it’s leaking water out the dispenser. This created a mess in the kitchen and prevented normal ice production from working properly.

Diagnosis: The ice maker assembly had multiple failure points that made repair impractical. When internal components break down like this, replacement of the entire unit is typically the most reliable solution.

Repair: Work: Replaced the ice maker · Parts: ACZ74010504 — Dispenser Assembly Ice · Result: Ice production resumed normally with no water leakage

Samsung dryer (DV42H5200EW) — Canton, OH

Diagnosis: Upon inspection, we found the wash sensor was dirty, causing the dishwasher to run continuously. The filter and bottom of the dishwasher also contained accumulated debris that needed removal.

Repair: Work: Cleaned out filter and bottom of dishwasher, cleaned dirty wash sensor · Parts: None — cleaning service only · Result: Dishwasher now completes normal cycles and shuts off properly

Maytag refrigerator (PTB19BBGRW) — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported that the freezer and refrigerator were not cooling properly. Both compartments had lost their ability to maintain proper temperatures, indicating a major cooling system failure.

Diagnosis: The start relay had failed, preventing the compressor on the fridge from operating. Without the start relay functioning, the compressor couldn’t engage to circulate refrigerant through the cooling system, explaining why both the freezer and refrigerator compartments weren’t cooling.

Repair: Work: Replaced the failed start relay component · Parts: URCO410-RUN CAPAC — start relay/run capacitor · Result: All functions appear to be operating correctly after replacement

Whirlpool Refrigerator; range/cooktop — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported that 2 burners dont work on stove and the fridge is leaking. This combination of issues on a dual appliance setup required checking both the range and refrigerator systems.

Diagnosis: One of the range burners plug-in sockets had become dislodged. The refrigerator had a plugged defrost drain causing the leak issue.

Repair: Work: Reinstalled the dislodged burner socket and disassembled the entire refrigerator compartment to clear out the drain · Parts: No parts needed · Result: All four burners work correctly and the drainage issue was resolved

Kenmore dryer (110.64962300) — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported their dryer operates but no heat. The unit would run through its cycles normally, but clothes came out still damp and cold.

Diagnosis: Testing revealed failures in the heating circuit. Both the heating element and thermal fuse were no longer functional, which completely prevented heat generation during the drying cycle.

Repair: Work: After replacing the heat element, I also installed a new thermal fuse at the same time · Parts: WP3392519 — thermal fuse, WP3387747 — heating element · Result: The dryer works great

Admiral refrigerator (frt18s6aqx) — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer contacted us because their refrigerator fan was hitting something. This type of noise typically indicates a mechanical issue with one of the cooling system fans.

Diagnosis: Upon inspection, we found that the condenser fan had broken. A damaged condenser fan blade can create contact with the housing or other components, resulting in the hitting noise the customer described.

Repair: Work: Replaced the broken condenser fan · Parts: 240524102 — Fan blade · Result: The noise was eliminated and proper cooling airflow restored

Samsung washer (WF393BTPAWR/A2) — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported a damaged seal and that the washer was leaking. Water was escaping from the front-loading drum area during operation.

Diagnosis: Inspection revealed the door boot (door diaphragm) had deteriorated and was no longer creating a proper seal around the washer door. This is a common failure point on front-load washers where the rubber seal experiences constant flexing and exposure to detergents.

Repair: Work: Replaced the door boot · Parts: DC64-02805A — Door Diaphragm · Result: Operation is normal

LG refrigerator (LFX28977ST/01) — Canton, OH

Reported: When dispensing water, there is a continual leak of water coming from behind the part you press for water. The catch basin fills, then water goes all over. This created a mess every time someone tried to get water from the refrigerator’s dispenser.

Diagnosis: Water dispenser line was pulled too far up in the console. This caused the connection to become loose behind the dispenser mechanism, allowing water to escape during dispensing operations.

Repair: Work: Repositioned water dispenser line in console · Parts: None required · Result: Water dispenser operates without leaking

Samsung dryer (DV45K6500EV/A3) — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported their Samsung dryer was making a grinding noise when operating. This type of noise typically indicates mechanical wear in the drum support system.

Diagnosis: The idler pulley on this dryer had failed. The idler pulley maintains proper belt tension around the drum, and when it fails, it creates grinding sounds during operation. The heat element was fine.

Repair: Work: Replaced failed idler pulley · Parts: DC93-00634A — idler pulley · Result: Dryer is operating as designed

GE oven/stove (JGBP79WEW1WW) — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer said the oven doesn’t work and is only working 40% with an alarm that won’t go off. Beyond these symptoms, limited information was available about when the issues started or other details about the appliance’s behavior.

Diagnosis: After testing the GE oven’s functions and examining the control systems, we determined the unit needs a new control board. The control board is the electronic brain that manages oven temperatures, timing functions, and alarm systems — explaining both the reduced performance and the persistent alarm issue.

Repair: Work: Diagnostic testing and parts research · Result: Control board not available for this model

Repair: Work: Diagnosis and assessment · Parts: None — repair not viable · Result: Customer likely going to replace the machine

Magic chef washer (10466215cx) — Carrollton, OH

Reported: The customer reported that their washer would overflow. Upon inspection, we discovered that mice had chewed through the hose to the water pressure sensor.

Diagnosis: Mice had chewed through the water pressure sensor line. Without this critical component functioning properly, the washer couldn’t detect water levels and would continue filling beyond capacity, leading to overflow conditions.

Repair: Work: Replaced the damaged pressure sensor line · Parts: WP21001748 — pressure sensor hose · Result: Water was off to the cabin, so testing wasn’t possible at the time of repair

GE fridge (TFX20JRBKWW) — Dellroy, OH

Reported: The customer reported that their fridge was leaking so they shut the valve off to the ice maker and water. This is a common safety measure homeowners take when they notice water pooling around their refrigerator.

Diagnosis: Our inspection revealed two issues causing the water problems. The water valve had failed, which was the primary source of the leak. Additionally, the rubber funnel pieces in the ice dispenser were damaged and keeping the ice flap open, which could contribute to moisture issues and improper ice dispensing.

Repair: Work: Replaced water valve and replaced the rubber funnel pieces in the ice dispenser · Parts: Water valve and rubber funnel pieces in ice dispenser · Result: Ice flap now closes properly and water leak eliminated

Amana washer (NTW4501XQ0) — Dellroy, OH

Repair: Work: Cleared the gummed up soap from the detergent tray · Parts: None required · Result: The soap tray is dispensing properly

Admiral refrigerator (FFTR1835VW) — Mineral City, OH

Reported: The customer reported their Admiral refrigerator needed door reversal and balanced. This is typically a straightforward service request for appliances that need the door hinge switched to accommodate kitchen layout changes.

KitchenAid refrigerator (KSSP48QJS00) — North Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported that ice maker water is not going in the tray and is making a giant waterfall/iceberg in the ice bin. Instead of dispensing water into the mold to freeze, the system was dumping water directly into the storage area.

Diagnosis: During inspection, we discovered the lining on the old ice maker mold had separated. This separation allowed water to wick over into the ice bucket rather than staying contained in the freezing compartment where ice cubes should form.
