Reported: The push start switch assembly has been loose against the front panel for some time. Today, the front panel start switch fell off and the remainder of the assembly fell inside the interior of the dryer and I have no way of reattaching the start dial because the assembly is no longer where it should be against the front panel. There is just an empty hole there now.

Diagnosis: The start switch assembly had worked its way loose from its mounting position and finally separated from the front panel. The entire mechanism dropped into the dryer cabinet, making it impossible for the customer to operate the machine.

LG washer (WM3470HVA) — Canton, OH

Diagnosis: Customer had already replaced fresh food evaporator fan. After disassembling, we realized the fan was in backwards. The reversed airflow was causing uneven temperature distribution throughout the fresh food compartment.

GE dishwasher (CDT866P2M4S1) — Hartville, OH

Reported: The screen on the dishwasher went blank, making it impossible to see what cycle or options were being selected. The dishwasher still functioned, but operating it was basically guesswork without the display feedback.

Diagnosis: The old user interface board was clearly bad, showing corrosion and burnt out spots on several of the resistors and small components. This is somewhat of a common issue with GE dishwashers. Fortunately, GE had already sent out a replacement board under warranty.

Whirlpool washer (WTW5000DW1) — Hartville, OH

Reported: The customer reported their Whirlpool washer wouldn’t spin out. Clothes were coming out dripping wet at the end of every cycle, indicating the spin cycle wasn’t engaging properly.

Diagnosis: The hub on the basket had failed. This component connects the wash basket to the transmission, allowing it to spin during the drain and spin cycles. When the hub fails, the basket can’t rotate properly, leaving water trapped in the clothes.

Diagnosis: The centrifugal switch on the motor had failed which kept the heating circuit from energizing. This switch is critical for allowing the heating system to operate — when it fails, the dryer will tumble but produce no heat whatsoever.

Whirlpool washer (WTW5000DW0) — North Canton, OH

Diagnosis: During our inspection, we discovered the wash plate had stripped completely. The shaft on the transmission also wore down significantly. These are major internal components that work together to agitate and spin the clothes during wash cycles.

Amana washer (LW8312W2) — North Canton, OH

Reported: Water leak under washer. The customer had checked hose connections and drainage hose for leaks. The leak appeared on the floor during the draining cycle, not on filling or agitation.

Diagnosis: The tub seal and bearings were shot on the wash machine. This combination failure allows water to escape from the tub assembly during the spin and drain cycles when water pressure and centrifugal forces are highest.

Diagnosis: We identified that the timer was the root cause of the drying issue. The faulty timer was preventing the dryer from completing proper dry cycles, leaving clothes damp even after full cycle completion.

Maytag washer (MDE2400AYW, MAH2400AWW) — Salem, OH

Reported: The customer reported their washer has an error that says kinked hose, but they checked and did not see any kinks. Additionally, their dryer will not heat up.

Diagnosis: The washing machine had stored error code for water supply issue, though both water valves were working with good water flow and the machine successfully passed automatic diagnostic. For the dryer, we found the heat element has failed and is no longer available.
