On arrival the ice room read 11°F, the freezer was cycling 0 to -7°F, and the fresh-food section was 35–40°F. The ice room fan was verified operating, and the ice room evaporator read 7°F after the unit had been worked on for a while, with no excess frost buildup found. All other basic functions checked normal. At optimal conditions this unit harvests every 90 minutes at 10 cubes per harvest, which is about 160 cubes per 24 hours. The customer was instructed to empty the ice bin and count the cubes produced over the next 24 hours to confirm whether production falls within the expected range of roughly 130–160 cubes.

The Problem
Still not heating.
The Repair
Third visit for repeat high limit failure; the 279769 kit had been replaced twice previously. Element tested not shorted, heat circuit connections good, installed position and transition good, blower wheel good, and the heater was observed cycling. Airflow measured 25 mph at the dryer outlet but only 8 mph at the vent termination on a 7 ft wall run, which identified vent restriction as the root cause of the repeat overheating. Removed a section of flexible slinky duct and replaced it with smooth rigid and some semi-rigid duct, and replaced the high limit. After the repair, heater draw was 22.2 A and airflow at the vent termination improved to 18 mph.
