Bosch Refrigerator Repair – Cuyahoga Falls, OH (B36FD31ENS/01)

On a July 2026 service call to Cuyahoga Falls, Samuel Willhite worked through a persistent no-ice complaint on a Bosch refrigerator (model B36FD31ENS/01) that had already received an ice maker module replacement two weeks prior. After running full technical-mode diagnostics and isolating a seized tray drive motor as the root cause, the ice maker assembly was replaced under warranty and automatic cycle initiation was confirmed restored before the call was closed.

The Problem

Still no ice at all. unit is cooling fine. dispenses water fine.

The Repair

Bosch B36FD31ENS/01 (FD 0507, outside TI 58300000241648-C production range) — no ice production persisting after 7/01 SMM replacement. On arrival: bin empty, tray contained trace condensate ice only with ejector fingers free, ice maker on, no demo mode at repower; freezer 0°F and ice mold 0°F verified by IR. Ran full technical-mode diagnostics: all sensors nominal and cross-checked against IR (tray NTC -16°C at 0°F mold), hopper fill state 06 = 0 with empty bin on both passive and forced (test 40) reads, door switches correct, hopper presence switch verified 0 seated/1 removed (reads at test position 13 on this E-Nr), IWS fan operational, ice maker fill valve fills tray, dispenser valve dispenses, tray heater functional, hopper flap, crusher, and chute flap all actuate with chute flap seal intact, drain clear. Tray drive test 42 failed — motor energized and audibly buzzing with no rotation, tray warm with liquid water ruling out ice bind: seized tray drive motor preventing home-position confirmation and blocking cycle initiation since installation. Replaced ice maker assembly under warranty; verified replacement tray drive cycles, and on power-up the control self-initiated a tray fill, confirming automatic cycle initiation restored. Ice maker left on; customer advised normal ice production within 24 hours.

Parts replaced: 20007782 (ice maker); 12028324 (water valve).
