Dexter Washer Repair – Louisville, OH (Commercial)

We responded to a commercial laundry in Louisville, OH where multiple Dexter washers and dryers needed service. The customer had three washers needing fixed, a dryer with a panel issue, and several set-o-matics for their dryers. What we found was a mix of electrical, mechanical, and connection problems across the equipment.

The Problem

The customer reported three washers needing fixed, a dryer that had a new panel installed but still wasn’t working, and a few set-o-matics needed for three dryers. Multiple pieces of commercial laundry equipment were down, affecting the business operation.

Diagnosis

Our inspection revealed several distinct issues. The double stack Dexter dryer had a jammed coin mechanism. The Huebsch topload washer needed a new start capacitor. Dexter #2 had a disconnected drain. Dexter #9 had incoming power with a loose connection that was tripping the breaker on final spin. One dryer was still operating with the door open and appeared to have a restricted vent.

The Repair

  • Parts replaced: 37377 — Capacitor motor start
  • Work performed: Finished installing setomatic on rear wall dryer, cleared jammed coin mechanism on double stack Dexter dryer, installed new start capacitor on Huebsch topload, reconnected drain on Dexter #2, repaired loose power connection on Dexter #9
  • Result: Multiple units returned to service, though one dryer remained out of order due to door and venting issues

Is It Worth Repairing?

Commercial Dexter laundry equipment is built for heavy-duty operation and designed to be serviceable. These machines represent significant investments for laundromat operators, and most electrical and mechanical issues can be economically repaired. The modular design of commercial units makes component replacement straightforward for trained technicians.

Maintenance Tips for Dexter Commercial Washers

  • Keep coin mechanisms clean and check for jammed coins weekly to prevent customer complaints and lost revenue
  • Inspect electrical connections monthly — commercial equipment vibration can loosen connections over time
  • Ensure proper drainage connections to prevent water backup and equipment damage
