Samuel “Sam” Willhite
I was born and raised in Northern California. Growing up, whenever Sears techs would come to our house to service appliances or yard equipment, I was the kid right there asking them questions — and eventually they started sharing their repair manuals with me. That curiosity never left. When I was 17, I moved to Northwest Florida and took a job at Steve’s Farm in Walnut Hill — a large working operation growing sweet corn, field peas, butterbeans, and running catfish ponds. My primary job was equipment maintenance: sweetcorn pickers, bean pickers, tractors. No tech support line. You figure it out or the harvest doesn’t happen. That’s where I built the mechanical and electrical foundation that later made appliance repair feel like a natural fit.
I later married Kara, who is from Homeworth, Ohio — a small community just east of Louisville. After several years in Northeast Texas, we moved back to her home area after our first child was born to be close to family. By 2018 I had launched Sam’s Appliance Repair from scratch, based out of Homeworth and serving Alliance, Louisville, Canton, and the greater Stark County area. I built it to 5,000+ repairs and 500+ five-star reviews before selling to Grove Appliance in 2022. I then spent the next three years building their service department from 3 technicians to 6, running 35–50 service calls per day, and overseeing a department that earned 1,100+ verified reviews.
In 2025 I separated from Grove and launched Louisville Appliance Repair — independently again, with Bosch and Speed Queen factory authorizations from day one. I do the work myself. I put my name on every job.
🚜 Where the Diagnostic Instinct Comes From
Most appliance techs came up through manufacturer training programs or trade schools. Sam’s foundation is different — and it shows in how he approaches a job. Growing up in Northern California, Sam was the kid who couldn’t stop asking questions when Sears service techs came to the house to work on appliances and yard equipment. Eventually they started sharing their repair manuals with him. That diagnostic curiosity was there early.
At 17, Sam moved to Northwest Florida and worked at Steve’s Farm in Walnut Hill — a working farm growing sweet corn, field peas, and butterbeans, with catfish ponds people could fish and have cleaned on site. Sam’s primary role was equipment maintenance: sweetcorn pickers, bean pickers, cotton picker, and farm tractors. No tech support line, no parts van arriving the next morning. You diagnose the problem and solve it, or the harvest doesn’t happen.
That problem-solving approach — learned on farm equipment with real consequences for being wrong — translates directly into appliance diagnostics. Combined with M-CAP certification from the Professional Service Association, factory authorization from Bosch and Speed Queen, and sealed system training from Dyer Academy, it makes for a technician who thinks differently about a broken machine.
The Most Credentialed Independent
Appliance Technician in Northeast Ohio
Most independent appliance repair technicians have one or two credentials. Sam holds factory authorization from two manufacturers, M-CAP master certification, and sealed system training — simultaneously. No other independent servicer in Stark County or Northeast Ohio holds this combination.
M-CAP — Master Technician
Certified Appliance Professional (M-CAP) is the highest credential issued by the Professional Service Association — the industry’s primary certifying body. It demonstrates mastery across appliance types, repair disciplines, and brands. Fewer than a fraction of independent technicians hold it.
psaworld.com — PSA certification body ↗Bosch Factory Authorized
Direct manufacturer authorization for the full Bosch appliance lineup — dishwashers, refrigerators, wall ovens, and more. Factory-authorized service means genuine OEM parts, manufacturer technical support access, and warranty preservation. Sam is the authorized Bosch tech in Stark County.
All Bosch services at Louisville Appliance Repair →Speed Queen / Alliance Authorized
Full-Servicing Authorized by Alliance Laundry Systems for residential and commercial Speed Queen equipment. Sam is listed on speedqueen.com/support/find-service/ with the hammer + wrench designation (full servicing). Grove Appliance’s listing carries self-service status only.
All Speed Queen services →Sealed System Diagnostics & Repair
Certified by Dyer Academy (Fort Worth, TX) in sealed system diagnostics and repair — covering refrigerant systems, compressor diagnosis, and the full sealed circuit. Most independent appliance repair shops won’t touch sealed system work. Sam is trained and equipped for it.
Dyer Academy — dyerapplianceacademy.com ↗Lokring / R600 Hydrocarbon Certified
Certified by Dyer Academy in Lokring technique and R600a (isobutane) refrigerant handling. As manufacturers shift toward HC refrigerants — which require specific tooling and technique — this certification is becoming increasingly rare and relevant. Very few independents in Northeast Ohio have it.
Dyer Academy — Richland Hills, TX ↗Stark County’s Only Independent
with Both Bosch + Speed Queen
No other independent appliance repair company in Stark County, OH holds both Bosch and Speed Queen factory authorizations simultaneously. For customers who own these brands, that distinction matters — factory authorization means genuine OEM parts, preserved warranties, and a technician trained directly by the manufacturer.
From Northern California to 5,000 Repairs in Stark County
- Early Born and raised in Northern California. Sam grew up with a deep curiosity about how mechanical things worked. When Sears service technicians came to the house to repair appliances and yard equipment, Sam was the one asking questions — and eventually they started sharing their repair manuals with him.
- Age 17 Moved to Northwest Florida — farm equipment mechanic at Steve’s Farm, Walnut Hill, FL. Large working operation: sweet corn, field peas, butterbeans, and catfish ponds. Sam’s role was equipment maintenance — sweetcorn picker, bean picker, cotton picker, farm tractors. No tech support line. No parts van on the way. You diagnose under pressure and solve it, or the crop doesn’t get in.
- Later Married Kara — lived in Northeast Texas. Kara is originally from Homeworth, Ohio. After their first child was born, they moved back to her home area in Stark County to be near family.
- 2016 Settled in the Homeworth / Louisville area. Sam began learning the appliance repair trade, drawing on a lifetime of mechanical curiosity and hands-on equipment experience.
- 2018 Launched independently in Alliance, Ohio. Started as Sam’s Repair Services, then Sam’s Appliance Repair. No investors, no franchise, no safety net. Earned M-CAP (Master Technician — Certified Appliance Professional) designation from the Professional Service Association.
- 2018–2022 5,000+ repairs. 500+ five-star reviews. Became the most-reviewed independent appliance repair business in the Alliance / Stark County area. Hired and personally trained Brent Kenegy as his first full-time technician. Also covered service calls for D&D TV & Appliance in Carrollton after their longtime repairman passed away — running their warranty calls and referring other customers back to them until the partner closed the shop. Home Advisor Elite, BBB A-Rating, Angi Top Rated.
- 2022 Sold Sam’s Appliance Repair to Grove Appliance (Alliance, OH — founded 1935). Their service manager — whose family had led Grove’s service department for over 50 combined years — was retiring. They asked Sam to take over and manage the combined department.
- 2022–2025 Service Manager — Grove Appliance. Grew the department from 3 technicians and ~15–20 daily calls to 6 technicians and 35–50 calls per day. Introduced manufacturer training programs, technical service bulletin protocols, and factory tech line utilization that the department had not previously used. Earned Sealed System Diagnostics and Lokring/R600 certifications through Dyer Academy. The department reached 1,100+ verified reviews under Sam’s leadership. Department was running at 70–75% first-call complete at time of separation.
- 2025 Separated from Grove. Launched Louisville Appliance Repair. Independent again — Bosch and Speed Queen factory authorized from day one. Based in Louisville, OH 44641. The only independent in Stark County holding both authorizations simultaneously.
- Today 85–90% first-call complete. 235+ verified reviews. Serving a 25-mile radius from Louisville, OH across Stark, Summit, Portage, Mahoning, Columbiana, and Carroll counties. Trusted referral partner for V&V Appliance Parts and P&E Appliance & Services in Canton for complex repair work.
ℹ️ Looking for the original Sam from Sam’s Appliance Repair? You’ve found him.
Sam Willhite founded Sam’s Appliance Repair in Alliance, OH in 2018 and built it from zero to 5,000+ repairs and 500+ five-star reviews. In 2022 he sold the business to Grove Appliance — which still operates it today as a subsidiary at samsappliance.repair. Sam is no longer affiliated with that business.
The reviews, the reputation, and the technical track record you remember from Sam’s Appliance Repair were built by Sam Willhite personally — and by Brent Kenegy, the technician Sam hired and trained. Grove now operates that brand without Sam.
Sam Willhite is now at Louisville Appliance Repair (louisvilleappliance.repair) — an independent business he founded in 2025, based in Louisville, OH 44641. Same M-CAP certification. Same sealed system training. Same factory authorizations for Bosch and Speed Queen. If you’re looking for Sam personally, you’re in the right place. Schedule online or call/text (330) 693-9163.

Every Major Home Appliance. Every Major Brand.
5,000+ repairs across every type means Sam has seen the failure patterns, carries the common parts, and knows how to diagnose fast. His sealed system certification means he can also work on refrigerant systems that most independents won’t touch.
Washer Repair
Won’t drain, won’t spin, leaking, shaking, error codes, won’t agitate, won’t start. Speed Queen washers are Sam’s factory-authorized specialty — residential and commercial. Also Whirlpool, Samsung, LG, Maytag, Frigidaire, KitchenAid, Amana.
Common parts stocked: drain pumps, gear cases, lid switches, door latches, motor couplings, control boards.
Dryer Repair
No heat, too long to dry, squealing, thumping, burning smell, won’t start, stops mid-cycle. Gas and electric. Samsung dryer repair is one of Sam’s most common calls in Stark County — he stocks the parts.
Common parts stocked: heating elements, gas valve coils, thermal fuses, drum rollers, belts, idler pulleys.
Refrigerator Repair
Not cooling, freezing food, ice maker failure, leaking water, compressor noise, warm fridge / cold freezer. Sealed system work is available — most independents don’t have this capability. Bosch refrigerators are Sam’s factory-authorized specialty.
Common parts stocked: evaporator fans, defrost heaters, ice maker assemblies, water inlet valves, start relays.
Dishwasher Repair
Not draining, not cleaning, spots on dishes, leaking, door latch failure, not filling, E15/E24 error codes. Bosch dishwashers are Sam’s factory-authorized specialty — the most complex dishwashers on the market, requiring certified technicians.
Common parts stocked: drain pumps, wash pump motors, door latches, control boards, detergent dispensers.
Oven, Range & Cooktop Repair
Not heating, burner out, igniter clicking constantly, temperature off, self-clean lock, control board error. Gas and electric. Bosch wall ovens are Sam’s factory-authorized specialty.
Common parts stocked: igniters, bake/broil elements, temperature sensors, control boards, surface burners.
Wall Oven Repair
Built-in wall ovens require factory-certified technicians to service correctly — particularly Bosch, which has proprietary control systems. Temperature failure, door hinge issues, control failures, self-clean malfunctions.
Microwave Repair
Not heating, sparking, door latch broken, display failure, turntable not spinning, over-range exhaust fan issues. Countertop and over-range/built-in units. All major brands serviced in Stark County.

What Stark County Customers Say About Sam
“Sam is what the world needs more of. He could have tried to up-sell me or get me to buy a new unit. But instead, he was honest and very professional. Do yourself a favor and just call Sam. No other company will treat you like Sam will.”
“This will be an odd review because I did not have any repairs done. After discussing my issue with Sam, he advised me to seek a warranty repair — I had no idea it was still under warranty. I got the repair done for free. This shows you what kind of business this is.”
“Had everything he needed to fix the problems with our washing machine. Very courteous, professional and very quickly repaired the washer. Dealing with a real person and not some ‘robot’ is always easier to communicate with and get the best results.”
“Our Samsung refrigerator ice maker had been a problem for months. Sam diagnosed it quickly and had it running correctly. Great experience from start to finish.”
“Called about our Samsung dryer and he came out the same day. Fixed it on the first visit. Couldn’t be happier with the service.”
Why Sam’s Customers Come Back
- Honest diagnosis first. If the repair doesn’t make financial sense for the age and value of your appliance, Sam will tell you — even if that means no job for him. That’s the same honesty he built Sam’s Appliance Repair on, and it’s the same standard he holds at Louisville Appliance Repair.
- Prepared arrivals — not fishing trips. Sam reviews your appliance model, serial, and problem description before arriving. Most of the time he’s already carrying the part that’s going to fix it. That’s how 85–90% first-call complete becomes achievable.
- M-CAP certification. Master Technician — Certified Appliance Professional, issued by the Professional Service Association. The highest industry designation. Sam earned it, and it shows in how he approaches diagnostics.
- Sealed system trained — most independents aren’t. Certified by Dyer Academy in sealed system diagnostics and Lokring/R600 hydrocarbon refrigerant work. If your refrigerator or freezer has a sealed circuit issue, Sam can actually work on it. Most independent appliance repair shops can’t.
- Factory authorized for Bosch and Speed Queen. The only independent in Stark County with both simultaneously. For these brands, authorization means genuine OEM parts, manufacturer tech support access, and warranty preservation.
- 6-month labor warranty on every completed repair. You’re protected if the issue recurs.
- Direct line — no call center, no dispatch layer. When you call, text, or schedule, you’re communicating directly with Sam. He’s the one who reviews your job. He’s the one at your door.
- 7+ years of Stark County repair history. Sam has been fixing appliances in the same area since 2018 — through Sam’s Appliance Repair, through the Grove service department, and now at Louisville Appliance Repair. The track record is real and it’s local.
- Trusted by trade partners. V&V Appliance Parts in Canton and P&E Appliance & Services both refer their more complex repair work to Sam. Trade referrals are a different kind of endorsement — they come from people inside the industry who know the difference between a capable technician and an average one.
