Diagnosis: Our inspection of the Magic Chef HMCF7W4 revealed wiring issues within the electrical system. The internal wiring had developed faults that were interrupting the power supply to the freezer’s components.

GE washer (GTW460ASJ9WW) — Beloit, OH

Reported: The customer reported that their washer is off balance, also will not complete wash cycle and move to spin/rinse/spin at times. These symptoms indicated potential issues with the suspension system and drive components.

Diagnosis: Our inspection revealed that the washer needs transmission, belt and all four suspension rods. The transmission failure was preventing proper cycle completion, while the worn suspension rods were causing the severe balance issues. The drive belt also showed signs of wear and slippage.

Whirlpool dryer (LGR4634JQ0) — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported that their dryer doesn’t tumble. The drum would not rotate at all when the cycle started, leaving clothes sitting wet in the bottom of the tub.

Diagnosis: Opening the dryer cabinet revealed the belt had broken completely. This is the drive belt that wraps around the drum and connects to the motor pulley system. Without it, the motor runs but can’t turn the drum.

Whirlpool washer (Coin op) — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported that the washers doesn’t work and mentioned there were three total units affected. This is a common issue with commercial coin-operated washers where either the coin mechanisms aren’t set properly or mechanical components like lid locks fail over time.

Diagnosis: Upon inspection, we found that all three washers and dryers needed their coin mechanisms reset to the proper price point. Additionally, one of the washers had a faulty lid lock assembly that prevented it from operating even when coins were inserted correctly.

Reported: The homeowner reported ice buildup at the bottom of the freezer side that has to be chiseled out every 2 weeks. This kind of recurring ice formation typically indicates a defrost system malfunction that’s allowing moisture to freeze instead of draining properly.

Diagnosis: We found the defrost drain was plugged, preventing melted frost from draining during defrost cycles. Additionally, there was a butt connector on the defrost thermostat that came loose, which would disrupt the defrost cycle timing and allow ice to accumulate.

GE dishwasher (DDT595SGJ0WW) — Canton, OH

Reported: The power is on and it lights up. It won’t start though. The customer wasn’t sure if it could sense the door was closed or opened.

Diagnosis: The DC harness was definitely damaged and had been chewed up by mice or something. However, after replacing the damaged harness, the symptoms were still present, indicating the main control board had also failed.

LG washer (WM3170CW) — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported their boot was leaking and had attempted to research the repair themselves. After watching instructional videos, they decided the complexity of replacing a door boot made it a job for professional technicians.

Diagnosis: We found the door boot was indeed leaking and needed replacement. The hinge assembly also required replacement to complete the repair properly and ensure long-term reliability.

Whirlpool dishwasher (Dishwasher) — Canton, OH

GE refrigerator (DFE29JSDDSS) — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported that their refrigerator temperature was set at 37°F for the fresh food compartment and 0°F for the freezer, but the actual readings showed 60°F and -5°F respectively. This significant temperature variance meant food spoilage was imminent.

Diagnosis: Our inspection revealed a failed evaporator fan. The evaporator fan is critical for circulating cold air throughout both the refrigerator and freezer compartments. When this fan fails, proper air circulation stops, causing uneven temperatures and poor cooling performance.

Diagnosis: Our examination revealed the control board had failed on the oven. When we checked parts availability, we discovered this control board was no longer available from the manufacturer, making repair impossible.

Whirlpool refrigerator (ED2SHAXMB10) — Canton, OH

Diagnosis: Our inspection determined that the ice maker and optics sensor needed to be replaced. The blinking red light on the infrared receiver was the system’s way of signaling the optical sensor failure that was preventing proper ice production.

Admiral dishwasher (FGHD2465NF1A) — Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported their dishwasher was not draining properly. Water was remaining in the bottom of the tub after cycles completed.

Diagnosis: Our initial inspection found the garbage disposal was plugged, which was preventing proper drainage from the dishwasher. We removed the plug from the garbage disposal to restore drainage function.

Diagnosis: Upon inspection, we determined that the unit needed the right hand door hinge assembly. However, nothing was made in 91, and this part was no longer available from the manufacturer or aftermarket suppliers.

Diagnosis: Upon inspection, we found the drum support was broken. The drum support is a critical component that keeps the washer tub properly aligned and stable during the wash and spin cycles. When this part fails, it creates significant noise and can cause further damage to other components.

Diagnosis: We replaced the user interface and regained partial functionality but the compressor still wasn’t operable. Further testing revealed that the main control wasn’t sending proper voltage to the UI, indicating a failed main control board.

Reported: Water was running out of the ice maker continuously. The customer mentioned that a couple years ago we had replaced a metering valve for the ice maker, and the same issue was happening again. They had replaced the ice maker about that time trying to fix the problem, but it obviously didn’t work.

Diagnosis: The water valve assembly had failed again, causing continuous water flow to the ice maker. Even though the customer had replaced the ice maker itself, the problem wasn’t with the ice maker — it was with the water valve that controls flow to it.

Samsung dryer (DV400EWHDWR/AA) — Louisville, OH

Reported: The customer reported that it goes around but does not heat. The dryer would run through its cycles and the drum would rotate, but clothes remained wet at the end of each cycle due to the lack of heat generation.

Diagnosis: Testing revealed that the heat element had failed. When a dryer heating element burns out, the unit will continue to tumble clothes but cannot generate the hot air needed for proper drying. We also identified that the idler pulley needed replacement during this service.

Frigidaire refrigerator (FRS6R5EMBS) — Malvern, OH

Reported: The customer reported a small leak in the back left side that didn’t appear to be from water lines. They suspected it was possibly condensate and noticed the fan doesn’t seem to be running as hard as in the past.

Diagnosis: I found that the defrost drain tube in the freezer compartment had worked loose. When the fridge ran the automatic defrost cycle, the water just drained onto the floor instead of going where it was supposed to.

Admiral washer (FTF2140ES0) — Malvern, OH

Reported: The customer reported their washer won’t wash clothes. It lets you start the washer but after that it won’t actually wash it. It won’t even start the washer load just lets you hit start and that’s it.

Diagnosis: Testing revealed the main control board had failed. This component manages all the washer’s functions — when it fails, the machine might accept input commands but won’t execute the actual wash cycles.

Whirlpool washer (TAWS800JQ1) — Malvern, OH

Reported: The customer reported their washer was stuck mid cycle with the water still in it. The machine wouldn’t advance through its wash program, leaving clothes soaking in standing water.

Diagnosis: Testing revealed a faulty lid switch that wasn’t properly signaling the washer control board. Additionally, the agitator dogs were worn and no longer engaging to move the agitator during the wash cycle.

Kenmore dishwasher (665.15899100) — Massillon, OH

Reported: The customer reported loud noise while washing. The dishwasher was making excessive noise during the wash cycle, disrupting normal kitchen activities.

Diagnosis: Upon inspection, we found the sump/wash pump assembly had failed. The dishwasher also had quite a bit of calcium buildup throughout the system, which can contribute to pump wear and other operational issues.

Reported: The customer reported their oven won’t light. This prevented them from using their gas oven for cooking.

Diagnosis: Our technician found that the pilot light had extinguished. This is the root cause when gas ovens fail to ignite properly.

Samsung refrigerator (RF263AEBP/XAA-00) — Minerva, OH

Diagnosis: Upon inspection, we confirmed the door gaskets were worn and no longer providing an adequate seal. When refrigerator door gaskets fail, warm air enters the compartment, forcing the compressor to work harder and potentially causing food spoilage.

Reported: The customer reported an EFI code on their Admiral dryer. They had already cleaned out the clogged dryer vent and checked the thermal limiter, which tested good, then replaced the thermal limiter next to the exhaust fan, but the code continued to appear.

Diagnosis: After examining the dryer’s components and airflow system, we determined the blower was unavailable. The EFI code typically indicates airflow restriction or component failure in the exhaust system, and despite the customer’s thorough cleaning efforts, the blower itself was the root cause.

Kenmore dryer (110.72812101) — North Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported their gas dryer was not heating properly. Clothes were coming out damp even after extended drying cycles, indicating the burner wasn’t staying lit consistently.

Diagnosis: Testing revealed the gas valve coil packs had failed. These electromagnetic coils control the gas valve operation — when they fail, the valve can’t open properly to allow gas flow to the burner assembly. Without reliable gas flow, the dryer runs but produces no heat.

Diagnosis: The transmission shift was corroded and had stripped out the spin basket hub. This type of corrosion damage prevents the spin basket from maintaining proper engagement with the transmission, causing the intermittent spinning pattern the customer experienced.
