Samuel recently made a service call to a home on Fairlawn Ave in Louisville, OH, where a Speed Queen dryer, model SDE107WF1724, had been running for 50 minutes without drying clothes and producing a burnt smell. He found that the dryer vent tube had become disconnected inside the unit, creating a serious fire hazard by recirculating hot air and lint back into the dryer. Samuel reconnected the vent tube and vacuumed out the accumulated lint, getting the dryer back in working order, and he also noted that the exterior vent line appears heavily obstructed and recommended professional vent cleaning as a follow-up step.

Dryer vent tube was disconnected on inside of dryer. Recirculating hot air and lint back into the dryer. This was an extreme fire hazard. I corrected it and vacuumed all the lint out of the dryer. It’s good to go. However, the vent from the wall to the outside of the house seems to be heavily obstructed. I would recommend having it professionally cleaned. Possibly the cap on the outside should be replaced as well. It looks like it is too small to allow for proper airflow.
