When a Salem, OH homeowner noticed their Frigidaire refrigerator was not cooling, found water pooling on the floor near the front dispenser, and discovered the freezer contents had fully thawed, they reached out to Louisville Appliance Repair for help. The Problem
Not cooling. Water on floor from front ice/water dispenser. Freezer contents fully thawed.
The Repair
Diagnosis: Unit in Demo/Showroom mode. Customer-submitted photo of dispenser UI showed “Demo” indicator illuminated (blue text on the right side of the panel, next to Reset Air Filters). Display and dispenser operate normally in this mode but the compressor/sealed system does not run — explains both the warm freezer and the dispenser leak (residual ice melted, water ran out the chute).
Fix: Remote. Walked customer through the exit sequence per service manual:
Hold the Freezer (+) button on the LEFT and the Fresh Food (-) button on the RIGHT simultaneously for 10 seconds.
(On this UI: left “+” under Freeze Boost, and right “-” next to the Demo indicator / above Reset Air Filters. Same combo activates and deactivates — toggle.)
Confirmed cooling restored same evening. No truck roll. No parts.
