Is My Maytag Appliance Under Warranty? The 10-Year Warranty, Explained

Short answer: every Maytag major appliance comes with one year of parts-and-labor coverage from the date of delivery — and, unlike most brands, Maytag adds a limited 10-year warranty on specific component parts on top of it. That 10-year coverage is real, but the fine print matters: it covers certain parts only, with no labor included. Here's exactly what's covered, how to check where your appliance stands, and what to do either way.

What Maytag's warranty actually covers

Maytag's current major-appliance limited warranty (Whirlpool Corporation document W11655302A) has two layers:

• Year one — parts and labor. For one year from the date of delivery, Maytag pays for factory-specified replacement parts and repair labor to correct defects in materials or workmanship, when the appliance is installed, operated and maintained per the instructions.
• Years two through ten — certain component parts only, labor NOT included. Maytag supplies the replacement part for the specific components listed below; you pay the labor to have it installed.
• Warranty service goes through Maytag's authorized service network, and proof of purchase is required. Registration is not — though registering at Maytag's Owner Center makes date lookups easier later.
• Using an independent repair shop does not void the warranty. Maytag's own warranty document states that use of unauthorized service providers or non-genuine parts will not void the coverage — worth knowing if you'd rather have a local shop handle an out-of-pocket repair while the long parts warranty keeps running.

The 10-year parts warranty, appliance by appliance

Maytag advertises this on major kitchen and laundry appliances made after 2017. These are the components the official warranty document lists for years two through ten (parts only):

• Washing machine: the drive motor (stator and rotor only) and the wash basket (side walls only).
• Dryer: the drive motor and the drum (side walls only).
• Refrigerator: the compressor.
• Dishwasher: the wire racks (lower, upper, and third level where applicable — excluding cup shelves, the silverware basket and third-rack trays), the chopper blade, and the stainless steel tub and inner door liner.
• Electric range or cooktop: the glass-ceramic cooktop (if it fails from thermal breakage), the surface elements, and bake/broil elements (convection element excluded); the oven cavity is covered against rust-through and broken welds.
• Gas range or cooktop: the burner grates and gas surface burners; on ranges, the gas bake/broil elements (convection excluded) and cavity rust-through as well.
• Built-in oven: electric bake and broil elements (convection excluded) and cavity rust-through/broken welds.
• Microwave: the magnetron, and the cavity against rust-through and broken welds.

Notice what that list is: the heart of each machine — motors, drum, basket, compressor, magnetron. If one of those fails in year six, Maytag supplies the part and you cover the labor. That changes the repair-vs-replace math in your favor, and it's one reason we're happy to see a Maytag in the kitchen when we get the call.

How to tell if yours is still covered

1. Your receipt or delivery date. Both warranty clocks start at delivery, so proof of purchase is the definitive answer — and you'll need it to claim warranty service.
2. The manufacture date on the serial number. No receipt? Under a year old: possibly still in full coverage. Under ten: the component parts warranty may still matter.
3. Maytag's own records. If you registered the appliance, Maytag's Owner Center ties your model and serial to the purchase date on file — the authoritative source when you need it down to the day.

If you're still under warranty

In the first year, warranty repairs are arranged through Maytag's authorized service network — contact Maytag or the retailer you bought from, and we'll happily point you in the right direction if you tell us what's going on. In years two through ten it's a hybrid: if the failed part is on the covered list, Maytag supplies it and the labor is on you — we can diagnose the failure, confirm whether the component qualifies, and handle the installation.
