Admiral Washer Repair – Massillon, OH (Cfwh7300rw0)

We serviced an Admiral washer in Massillon that wouldn’t complete cycles and displayed error code E48. The machine would start and then stop for no reason, sometimes before clothes got wet and other times when they were soaking wet but the spin cycle wouldn’t run. Our diagnosis revealed a failed door lock assembly causing the console control board to think the door wasn’t properly secured.

The Problem

The customer reported that the washer will not complete a cycle and they had been using it on “bulk” only for a long time, but recently none of the cycles will complete. It starts and then stops for no reason, sometimes stopping before the clothes even get wet and other times when the clothes are soaking wet but no spin cycle has run. The newest issue was that the washer thinks the door is not locked based on the lights that are blinking.

Diagnosis

The machine displayed error code E48, which means the console control board thinks the door PTC circuit is closed. This error prevents the washer from operating properly because the control board believes the door isn’t securely latched, triggering safety protocols that halt the wash cycle at various stages.

The Repair

  • Parts replaced: 131763256 — Door Lock/Switch Assembly
  • Work performed: Replaced door lock/latch assembly
  • Result: Machine is operating correctly

Is It Worth Repairing?

Admiral washers are basic, reliable machines that can provide years of service when properly maintained. A door lock replacement on an older Admiral is typically worth doing since these units are built to last and the repair cost is reasonable compared to replacement. However, if multiple components start failing in quick succession, replacement may be the better financial choice.

Maintenance Tips for Admiral Washers

  • Keep the door seal area clean and dry to prevent mold buildup that can interfere with proper door closure
  • Don’t overload the machine as this puts extra stress on the door lock mechanism during the spin cycle
  • Periodically check that the door closes firmly and the lock engages with a solid click
