A Louisville, OH household on Pilot Knob Ave NE noticed their Whirlpool refrigerator was hot to the touch around the door seals and that the condenser fan on the back of the unit had stopped running. Samuel visited the home, tested the fan motor, and found the windings had failed, requiring a replacement. After installing a new condenser fan motor, the refrigerator was back in working order, with normal cooling and ice production expected to resume within 24 hours.
The Problem
It is Hot to the touch around Door Seals. The Fan is Not working on back of Fridge that is suppose to keep Condenser cool.
We had a Power surge last week with our Generator it killed a TV, furnace blower and now this. Please advise.
The Repair
Condenser fan motor had 120 V to it, but was not rotating. Fan winding tested open. Replaced fan motor, good to go. Unit may take up to 24 hours to resume normal cooling/ice production.
Parts replaced: WP2188874 (condenser fan motor).
