Maytag Washer; Dryer ; Oven Repair – Louisville, OH (CALORIC WALL OVEN. RWP212 DRYER NED4655EW1. WASHER)

A Louisville homeowner called with multiple appliance issues — their Maytag dryer had stopped heating but was still tumbling, their washer was leaking significantly out of the bottom, and their Caloric wall oven wasn’t heating. We found three different problems requiring different approaches to get everything working again.

The Problem

The customer reported that their dryer had stopped heating but was still tumbling. Their washer was leaking significantly out of the bottom. The wall oven was not heating at all.

Diagnosis

On the dryer, we found a failed heating element that needed replacement. For the washer, we couldn’t find any actual leaks and determined it looked like it could be splashing over the top on max load. The wall oven had a broken igniter wire that was preventing heating.

The Repair

  • Parts replaced: 279838 — heating element for dryer
  • Work performed: Installed new heating element on dryer, spliced together broken oven igniter wire
  • Result: Dryer heating restored, oven heating but runs 80 to 100 degrees hotter than temperature dial (oven temperature sensor not available)

Is It Worth Repairing?

Maytag dryers are generally built to last, and a heating element replacement is a straightforward fix that extends the machine’s life significantly. The Caloric oven repair was minimal cost but will need a temperature sensor eventually to run at proper temperatures. For the washer, trying smaller loads first makes sense before considering more extensive repairs.

Maintenance Tips for Maytag Washers and Dryers

  • Clean your dryer’s lint filter after every load to prevent heating element stress and fire hazards
  • Don’t overload your washer — use appropriate load sizes to prevent splashing and strain on components
  • Check dryer vent hose annually for blockages that can cause heating elements to overheat and fail
