Reported: The Samsung dishwasher would start working then after about 3 to 5 seconds stops and we have blinking lights. Heavy and Smart Auto lights flashing.

Diagnosis: We found the sump area had accumulated debris and buildup that was triggering the dishwasher’s safety shutdown. When the unit detected restricted water flow through the dirty sump, it would halt operation and display the flashing error lights.

Crosley washer (CAW35114GW0) — Dover, OH

Reported: The customer called because their washer won’t power on. They had it unplugged when we arrived for the service call.

Diagnosis: I could not replicate the no power issue. When I plugged the machine in, it operated properly. No error codes were stored. However, I found the drain hose on the unit was problematic — the installer had used a poor quality line and it was kinked.

Diagnosis: Upon inspection, we discovered the dryer heat selection knob was missing. The dryer was set to no heat, which explained why clothes weren’t drying properly. This is a simple but critical component that controls the heating element operation.

Maytag washer (BRAVOS XL MVWB835DC2) — Hartville, OH

Reported: The customer reported loud noise when spinning. This type of noise during the spin cycle typically indicates a serious mechanical failure in the washer’s drive system.

Diagnosis: The transmission bearings had failed. When transmission bearings go bad in a Maytag Bravos XL, they create loud grinding or rattling noises during the spin cycle as the damaged components struggle to rotate the wash basket properly.

Diagnosis: We checked SmartHQ fault history and found F27 Water Accessibility, F19 UI Timeout (inactive), F89 Accelerometer, and F92 Inverter (historical/install-related). The detergent tank was empty, causing the indicator light.

LG Washer; dryer (DLE5977S) — Kent, OH

Reported: The customer reported that their LG washer and dryer were both having issues. The washer was leaking from the bottom intermittently, and the dryer squeaked at startup.

Diagnosis: On the dryer, we found worn support rollers and an idler pulley that were causing the startup squeak. The belt also showed signs of wear. For the washing machine leak, we could not replicate the issue during our service visit.

Diagnosis: We found that the wash plate (agitator) had shattered. It appeared that something hard was in the load of clothes being washed and physically jammed the agitator, causing it to shatter. The foreign object created enough force to break the agitator completely.

Diagnosis: We found the drain was frozen solid. The drain probe had bent out of place, which prevented proper drainage and caused water to back up into the fresh food compartment instead of draining normally.

Diagnosis: Testing showed the bake igniter was drawing only 2.7 amps. A properly functioning igniter should draw significantly more current to reliably open the gas valve and maintain consistent heating cycles.

Diagnosis: Upon entering the house, I could smell a strong lacquer smell. Fumes from oil based paints when mixed with burnt natural gas fumes create a kerosene like smell. We suspect this is what is causing the odor you are smelling rather than a problem with the stove itself.

Dexter Washer; dryer (T300) — Louisville, OH

Reported: The Dexter dryer was reading F6 error codes intermittently. Unplugging the unit would erase the error and allow operation for a few days, but the F6 error would ultimately return. Additionally, the top loader washer number 8 was draining water in the back onto the floor during its drain cycle.

Diagnosis: The F6 error code on the Dexter T300 dryer indicated a motor-related fault that required a complete motor replacement. We also found that dryer #8 needed a new coin accumulator. During inspection of washer #8, we were unable to replicate the reported water leak.
