Forno Oven Repair – Uniontown, OH (FFSGS6276-30)

Louisville Appliance Repair recently completed a service call on Mayfair Rd in Uniontown, OH, where a customer reported that their FORNO FFSGS6276-30 gas oven would not light and was running at the wrong temperature. Samuel visited the home, tested the unit, and found no fault with the oven itself. After demonstrating the correct operating procedure and advising the customer on proper temperature reference, the oven was confirmed to be working as intended with no parts required.

The Problem

Gas oven will not light and temperature runs way off — flame drops low at certain temp, oven no longer lights at all

The Repair

Service Notes — Forno FFSGS6276-30 Gas Range
Complaint: Customer reported oven temperature issues based on readings from an aftermarket dial thermometer placed inside the cavity.
Findings: No fault. Customer was relying on a cheap dial thermometer for temp verification. Unit has its own high-quality built-in thermometer alongside the thermostat — that is the reference to use, not an aftermarket gauge.
System overview: This range is fully analog — no control board. Oven uses electronic spark ignition (not a glow bar) paired with a thermocouple safety on the burner. Spark lights the burner, but the thermocouple must heat in the flame before the gas valve will stay open on its own. Customer must push and hold the knob in for ~10 seconds after ignition to let the thermocouple come up to temp — release too early and the valve closes and flame drops out.
Normal operating behavior (demonstrated to customer):
• Flame runs full-force through the entire preheat
• Once setpoint is reached, flame automatically modulates down to a small maintenance flame
• When the cavity cools, flame ramps back to full force automatically
• The small maintenance flame is sensitive — opening the door can blow it out. Per the manufacturer plaque, wait for the flame to grow back larger before loading food. If it goes out, manual reignition is required.
Test cycle: Preheated to ~350°F in normal time. Built-in thermometer tracked properly. Minor variation between built-in gauge and customer’s dial thermometer is expected and acceptable.
Resolution: Demonstrated correct lighting procedure (hold knob in 10 seconds after ignition), reviewed flame modulation behavior, and advised customer to reference the built-in thermometer going forward. No parts, no follow-up needed.
