A service call in Malvern, OH brought Samuel to Alliance Rd NW to look at an Amana washer, model NTW4516FW4, with clothes repeatedly wrapping around the agitator. After diagnosing error codes and a loose capacitor that had been obstructing the tub assembly, Samuel replaced the shift actuator and reinstalled the capacitor. The unit passed its auto diagnostic test and calibration cycle, leaving the washer running properly with no remaining error codes.
The Problem
clothes keep wrapping around agitator
The Repair
Customer had attempted to put unit into diagnostics and read error codes. He said there were no stored error codes. I found F7E5 – SHIFTER FAULT
F7E6 – MOTOR FAULT
When I arrived there, I could feel something underneath the basket/drum obstructing free movement of the entire wash tub assembly. I found the capacitor loose and hanging underneath it. It had been riding underneath the motor pulley, obstructing the pulley and belt from spinning properly. It had also damaged the shift actuator. The shift actuator was not moving into the wash mode. I reinstalled the capacitor and replaced the shift actuator. Unit successfully passed auto diagnostic test and calibration cycle. Good to go. No more error codes.
Parts replaced: W11481722 (shifter).
