On a service call to Canton, OH, Samuel Willhite was contacted about a Whirlpool dishwasher leaking from the bottom corners. After a phone consultation, Samuel identified the likely cause and guided the customer through a DIY fix using a factory-updated replacement part, resolving the issue without an in-home visit.

The Repair
After discussing with the customer about the dishwasher issue, I determined over the phone that it most likely had a cracked spray arm. We see that quite a bit with the spray arm that this Unit has. Whirlpool has a newer updated model bit has been working out well. I sent her these instructions and a link to buy oem Whirlpool lower spray armor from Amazon.
“Perfect. There’s a very high chance that the issue is that spray arm. The seam on it cracks and when it’s pumping water, the water sprays out and comes under the door. I see that fairly often. You could likely replace yourself. This one on Amazon is a direct replacement. It looks different, but it is a new upgraded one. You just grab the spray arm in the middle and grab the latches underneath, rotate it counterclockwise a quarter turn and lift it off. Reverse to install the new one.”
