GE Washer Repair – North Canton, OH (GTW585BSV0WS)

On a service call to Woodside Ave NE in North Canton, OH, Samuel found a GE washer that had stopped completing cycles, with the lid repeatedly locking and unlocking instead of agitating or spinning. After diagnosing an active lid lock fault logged dozens of times and applying a firmware update alongside a lid lock assembly replacement, the washer is back to completing full cycles normally.

The Problem

Won’t stain or spin. Lid just locks and unlocks.

The Repair

Customer’s washer was throwing an active F32 fault (Critical Lid Lock Failure – Can’t Unlock Lid), which cancels the cycle. Fault was logged 38 times, most recently 1 day ago at cycle 678. Also found inactive history of F31 (out of balance) and F9 (lid switch redundancy).
Replaced the lid lock assembly and installed the available GE firmware update (Washer Main Board
– Application + Parametric), which addresses lid lock and out-of-balance fault behavior. Entered Service Mode to verity proper lid lock and lid switch operation. Cleared all stored fault codes and tested the unit through a cycle — washer is locking, unlocking, and completing normally. Good to go.
