GE Washer Repair – Massillon, OH (GTW465ASN2WW)

On a service call to Massillon, OH, Samuel Willhite diagnosed a GE washer (model GTW465ASN2WW) that was shutting off completely after filling with water. A drive belt that had slipped off the pulley was causing the locked-rotor fault. After reinstalling the belt, running a full diagnostics sequence, and pushing two software updates, the washer passed all tests and returned to normal operation with no parts needed.

The Repair

SmartHQ fault history showed F3 (locked rotor monitor, cancels cycle) logged 18 times, most recent the same day, matching the complaint of the unit shutting off and going blank after fill. SmartHQ reported the connected control as model GTW485ASJ1WS, serial LG162722G (Jun 2016), which does not match the rating label (GTW465ASN2WW, DS255266G); the main control appears to have been replaced before the customer purchased the unit used approximately three months ago. Found the drive belt off; reinstalled it and inspected the belt and pulleys, both in good condition. Ran SmartHQ service mode diagnostics: the low flow/pressure sensor fill test passed (7.2 in), agitate tested good, the spin test locked the lid and reached its 140 RPM target, and drain tested good. Shocks checked good and the transmission sounded normal. Installed two available software updates. The unit passed all tests and is operating normally.
