Common Dryer Problems We Service
A no-heat dryer is the most common call — and most online guides get it wrong. The thermal fuse is the symptom; airflow is usually the cause. We diagnose the root cause before replacing any part so the repair holds.
No heat
Restricted exhaust airflow trips the thermal fuse. Heating element failure on electric dryers (especially Samsung). Gas valve coil failure on gas dryers — igniter glows but burner doesn’t light. We diagnose airflow first, electrical second.
Won’t start
Door switch fault, thermal fuse open (no heat indication), motor relay failure on the control board, or start-switch / push-button failure. Diagnostic confirms which circuit is broken before parts.
Drum not turning
Broken drive belt (most common), failed idler pulley, drum roller wear, or motor failure. Loud squealing usually means rollers or idler; nothing turning means belt or motor.
Loud squealing / thumping
Worn drum rollers (squealing), worn idler pulley bearing, or worn drum bearing/glide pad (thumping). All routine fixes; we carry the common roller/idler kits on the truck.
Long dry times
Almost always airflow restriction — exhaust duct length, blockage, lint accumulation, or vent cap failure. Could also be moisture sensor failure on automatic-dry cycles. We verify exhaust airflow first.
Burning smell
Stop using immediately. Most common cause is lint buildup near the heating element igniting. Less common: overheating element, scorched bearing/roller, or wiring fault. Real fire risk — schedule same-day diagnostic.
Samsung-specific failures

F-series (Whirlpool/Maytag), tE/dE/HE (Samsung/LG), and other platform-specific codes map to specific failures. Code reading is the diagnostic start — but airflow is still verified before parts are ordered.
