Multiple JennAir appliances at a Uniontown home needed repairs — wire short circuiting, down draft button not working, ice maker not working, and oven element broken. Our diagnosis revealed failed components across the refrigerator, range, and cooktop that required several replacement parts.
The Problem
The customer reported wire short circuiting, down draft button not working, ice maker not working, and oven element broken across their JennAir appliance suite.
Diagnosis
We found multiple failed components: the refrigerator’s ice maker had stopped producing ice, the lower oven’s bake element was broken, both downdraft hood power switches on the stove and griddle had failed, and all four surface burners needed replacement along with their plugs due to the wire short circuiting issue.
The Repair
- Parts replaced: DA97-15217D ice maker assembly, DA82-02367A Y clip assembly, WB44X200 range oven bake element, Y707698 replacement switches (2), 4392061 surface elements (4)
- Work performed: Replaced the icemaker in the fridge and installed the y-clip kit to prevent icing, installed new bake element in the lower oven, replaced the downdraft hood power switches on both the stove and griddle, installed new burners and plugs in all four burners
- Result: All appliances restored to proper operation
Is It Worth Repairing?
JennAir builds premium appliances designed for long service life. Multiple simultaneous failures like this often indicate electrical issues that, once addressed properly, shouldn’t recur for years. For a high-end appliance suite like this, comprehensive repairs are typically worthwhile.
Maintenance Tips for JennAir Appliances
- Check refrigerator water filter every 6 months — clogs can stress the ice maker system
- Clean range burner drip pans monthly to prevent electrical connection corrosion
- Test downdraft ventilation regularly to catch switch problems before they fail completely
