Kenmore dryer — Magnolia, OH

Reported: The customer reported their Kenmore dryer runs five minutes and shuts off. This type of intermittent shutdown typically indicates an electrical safety component has failed.

Diagnosis: The centrifugal switch in the dryer head failed. During our inspection, we also identified other parts that were bad, which would have required additional repairs beyond just the motor replacement.

LG washer (WT4801CW) — Magnolia, OH

Reported: When it is running it is making ALOT of noise. When it shifts cycles it is cluncking. We had someone out to look at our Dryer that was covered under warranty he ran a diagnostic on the washer and said it was fine. But all the noise is making us nervous that something may be ready to break.

Diagnosis: Couldn’t find anything obviously wrong. I did tighten the agitator and removed stator and checked everything out. I suspect the bearings are starting to fail.

Diagnosis: Given that we had serviced this Estate washer previously and it was experiencing multiple failure symptoms, the unit had reached the end of its serviceable life. The combination of mechanical failure and age made repair economically unfeasible.

Reported: The customer contacted us for removal of their broken microwave (over range) and installation of a new microwave they had already purchased.

Diagnosis: This was a straightforward replacement job rather than a repair. The existing Whirlpool WMH53521 microwave needed to be removed and replaced with the customer’s new unit.

Maytag dryer — Massillon, OH

Reported: The customer called because their Maytag dryer was making noise. We had previously repaired this same unit in May 2019, and they wanted it checked out again.

Diagnosis: During inspection, we found the blower wheel had failed. The snap ring that secures it was also compromised, causing the noise the customer reported.

Diagnosis: Inspection revealed the plastic bearings in the front support had worn down significantly, allowing excessive drum movement. The felt seal around the drum had also deteriorated, creating gaps that disrupted the heated airflow pattern. This combination caused the heating system to cycle erratically as sensors detected temperature fluctuations.

Diagnosis: Upon inspection, we found the dryer’s outlet had failed and there was excessive lint accumulation in the bottom of the machine. The lint buildup was restricting airflow and the faulty outlet prevented the dryer from receiving power properly.

Maytag washer (MVWC6ESWWI) — Massillon, OH

Reported: The customer reported that water runs with agitator in all selections. This meant the washer couldn’t properly control its fill and agitation cycles, with the agitator starting immediately regardless of which wash setting was chosen.

Diagnosis: Testing revealed the agitator began running immediately on any cycle. This pointed to defective temperature selection and pressure sensing components that were providing incorrect feedback to the washer’s control board, causing it to bypass normal cycle timing.

Diagnosis: The bearings and tub seal had gone out in the washing machine. This caused the washing machine to quit spinning the clothes out properly. The transmission on this unit is no longer available.

Diagnosis: Ignition lockout. Verified blower operation. Spark was momentary then unit shut down. Inspected burner compartment and identified the flame sensor was not making proper contact with the flame.

Reported: The customer reported their oven won’t light. This is a common symptom when the ignition system fails to generate enough heat to open the gas valve.

Diagnosis: Our technician determined the bake igniter was no longer functioning properly. When an igniter fails, it cannot reach the temperature needed to signal the gas valve to open, preventing the oven from lighting.

Diagnosis: The lid switch had failed. This prevented the wash machine from washing or spinning and draining. The faulty switch was interrupting the normal cycle sequence, which explains why the washer couldn’t progress through its drain and spin phases.

Diagnosis: Upon inspection, we found the icemaker water valve had failed. When this component fails, it can’t properly control water flow to the ice maker, causing overflow issues.

Diagnosis: We found a plugged defrost drain preventing proper drainage during defrost cycles. Additionally, the defrost heat probe was an older version that Samsung has since updated for better performance, and the evaporator lines lacked proper insulation.

Reported: The customer reported that their GE refrigerator’s icemaker was making a lot of noise. This type of complaint typically indicates internal mechanical failure within the icemaker assembly itself.

Diagnosis: Upon inspection, we found that the icemaker ejector motor had stripped. This is the component responsible for pushing ice cubes out of the mold and into the storage bin. When the motor strips, it can no longer function properly and creates grinding or loud mechanical noises as it attempts to operate.

Diagnosis: Testing revealed the bake igniter was pulling insufficient amperage to signal the gas valve to open. A weak igniter will glow but won’t generate enough current to complete the safety circuit. This creates the dangerous situation of gas flow without ignition, which is why the safety system prevents the valve from opening. The extended heat times the customer noticed were early warning signs of igniter deterioration.

Diagnosis: Hub stripped. When the plastic hub that connects the wash basket to the drive system strips out, the basket can’t engage properly. The growling noise was the motor trying to spin the basket without a solid connection, and the control board detected this failure and stopped the cycle.

Reported: The customer reported that a measuring cup had dropped on the glass cooktop, resulting in both cracks and a hole in the glass surface.

Diagnosis: The glass cooktop sustained significant damage from the impact, with visible cracks radiating from the point of contact and a hole penetrating the surface. This type of damage renders the cooktop unsafe for use.

Samsung dryer (DV42H5000EW/A3) — North Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported that the drum won’t turn. The dryer would start but the clothes wouldn’t tumble, making it impossible to dry loads properly.

Diagnosis: Testing revealed the AC drive motor had failed completely. This motor is responsible for turning the drum through the belt system, and when it stops working, the drum remains stationary even though other dryer functions may still operate.

Amana Refrigerator; dishwasher (ASD2624HES, MDB6600AWS) — North Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported that the water/ice dispenser wasn’t working on their Amana refrigerator. Additionally, the door handle had broken on their Amana dishwasher, making it difficult to open and close properly.

Diagnosis: The dishwasher repair was straightforward — the door latch assembly had failed and needed replacement. For the refrigerator, we found that the valve and water line to the fridge were corroded and obstructed, preventing water from reaching the dispenser. We also discovered the refrigerator’s filter needed replacement.

Reported: The customer bought a new house and ice/water not turned on due to leaking. Parts rusted in the back of freezer. The seller had confirmed that fridge leaked, so the new homeowner knew they’d need refrigerator repair to get the water dispenser functional.

Diagnosis: The water leak had caused significant rust damage to components in the back of the freezer compartment. The existing valve and dispenser housing were compromised and needed complete replacement to restore proper water flow and prevent future leaks.

Diagnosis: When an oven takes this long to heat and can’t reach set temperature, the igniter is usually the culprit. This component weakens over time and eventually can’t draw enough electrical current to open the gas valve fully. The oven tries to heat but never gets the gas flow it needs for proper combustion.

Maytag washer (MVWX655DW1) — North Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported their drum not spinning to wring clothes. The washer would fill and agitate normally, but when it came time for the spin cycle to extract water from the laundry, nothing happened.

Diagnosis: We removed the wash plate and found the hub underneath was stripped out. This plastic component connects the agitator assembly to the transmission, and when it fails, the drum loses its ability to spin during the wash and rinse cycles.

Diagnosis: Upon inspection, we found the motor was bad on the washer. The humming sound was the motor attempting to start but failing to engage properly due to internal motor failure.

Samsung refrigerator (RS265TDRS/XAA) — Oh., OH

Reported: The customer reported that their refrigerator does not stay cold. Food in both the fresh food and freezer compartments was warming up, creating an urgent situation that needed immediate attention.

Diagnosis: The evaporator had ice built up that was keeping the fan from spinning. This ice blockage prevented proper air circulation throughout the refrigerator, causing temperatures to rise in both compartments. The buildup indicated failures in the defrost system components that normally prevent this type of ice accumulation.

Admiral range/cooktop (FEF365CGSC) — Paris, OH

Reported: The customer had the oven set at 400 while preparing to make pizza so it would be nice and hot and was probably on for 2 hours total. After taking out the 2nd pizza and pushing buttons to turn the timer and oven off they noticed a noise coming from the oven but didn’t think anything of it. Later on they realized that the oven lock was sticking out and the door couldn’t shut because of it, with the lock light continuing to blink. They tried unplugging the cord for 15+ minutes and plugging it back in to see if the lock would go back in but it didn’t.

Diagnosis: The range’s door lock mechanism had become stuck in the engaged position after extended high-heat operation. The control panel was also affected, keeping the lock light blinking and preventing normal oven door operation.

Repair: Work: Reset the lock and control panel · Parts: No parts needed · Result: Good to go

Frigidaire dryer (FASE7073LW0) — Salineville, OH

Reported: The customer reported their Frigidaire dryer would start normally but shut off after only 2 minutes of operation. The control panel displayed error code E64, which indicates a heating system fault. The dryer drum would turn and the blower would run, but no heat was being generated before the unit shut down completely.

Diagnosis: Testing the heating element with a multimeter showed it had shorted internally, creating a ground fault that triggered the E64 error code. When a heating element shorts to ground, the dryer’s control board detects the electrical fault and immediately shuts down the unit to prevent damage or safety hazards. The element measured zero ohms to ground instead of the normal 8-10 ohm resistance reading.

Frigidaire refrigerator (FRT18IL6JB3) — Salineville, OH

Reported: The customer reported that their refrigerator cools fine but they have to defrost it once a month. This excessive ice buildup indicated the automatic defrost system wasn’t functioning properly.

Diagnosis: The defrost timer had failed and was not defrosting the refrigerator. Also the thermostat seemed to be out of spec. Without a working defrost timer, ice accumulated continuously in the freezer compartment, forcing manual defrosting every month.

Maytag oven (MES5752BAW16) — Uniontown, OH

Reported: The customer reported their Maytag oven would not heat at all. The oven would turn on and the display worked normally, but no heat was being produced during baking cycles. This is a common failure pattern when the bake element fails completely.

Diagnosis: We checked the power supply to confirm 240V was reaching the unit, then inspected the bake element at the bottom of the oven cavity. The element showed clear signs of failure with visible burn marks and an open circuit when tested with a multimeter. The broil element and all other components tested normally.

KitchenAid dishwasher (KUDS35FXSS3) — Uniontown, OH

Reported: The customer reported their KitchenAid dishwasher was leaking water. This model KUDS35FXSS3 was allowing water to escape from the door area during wash cycles.

Diagnosis: Inspection revealed the inner door seal had failed, compromising the watertight seal necessary for proper dishwasher operation. The gasket showed signs of wear that prevented it from maintaining contact with the door frame.

Kenmore refrigerator (596.76054701) — Washingtonville, OH

Reported: The customer reported that their Kenmore refrigerator wasn’t maintaining temperature as well as usual, and they noticed the door didn’t seem to close as tightly. Upon inspection, we found the door seal had multiple tears and worn sections that prevented proper sealing around the door frame.

Diagnosis: The door gasket (part WPW10443309) showed clear signs of wear and damage. Refrigerator door seals deteriorate over time due to constant opening and closing, temperature changes, and normal aging of the rubber material. When the seal fails, cold air escapes continuously, forcing the refrigerator to run more frequently and struggle to maintain proper temperatures.

Repair: Work: Removed old damaged gasket, cleaned gasket channel, installed new seal · Parts: WPW10443309 — door gasket/seal · Result: Door now seals properly with no air leaks detected

Whirlpool oven (WFE320M0JS) — Waynesburg, OH

Reported: The oven was stuck in a heating cycle with the F2 error message constantly displayed. Only the top heating coil was working, but it was heating excessively and wouldn’t turn off when the cycle should have ended. This created both a safety hazard and made the oven unusable for normal cooking.

Diagnosis: The F2 error code on this WFE320M0JS model indicates a temperature sensor or control board issue. Testing revealed the bake relay inside the main control board was sticking in the closed position. This relay controls power to the heating elements, and when it fails to open properly, the element continues receiving power even when it should shut off. The control board’s inability to regulate temperature properly triggered the F2 safety code.
