Reported: The customer reported their Kenmore dryer runs five minutes and shuts off. This type of intermittent shutdown typically indicates an electrical safety component has failed.

Diagnosis: The centrifugal switch in the dryer head failed. During our inspection, we also identified other parts that were bad, which would have required additional repairs beyond just the motor replacement.

LG washer (WT4801CW) — Magnolia, OH

Reported: When it is running it is making ALOT of noise. When it shifts cycles it is cluncking. We had someone out to look at our Dryer that was covered under warranty he ran a diagnostic on the washer and said it was fine. But all the noise is making us nervous that something may be ready to break.

Diagnosis: Couldn’t find anything obviously wrong. I did tighten the agitator and removed stator and checked everything out. I suspect the bearings are starting to fail.

Repair: Work: Calibrated the Maytag washer; diagnosed lid switch issue on Whirlpool unit · Parts: No parts recorded for this service call · Result: Maytag calibration completed; Whirlpool diagnosed for future lid switch replacement

Samsung refrigerator (RF267AERS) — Minerva, OH

Reported: The customer contacted us because their refrigerator and freezer were not getting cold at all. This complete loss of cooling in both compartments typically points to a major component failure in the refrigeration system.

Diagnosis: After testing the refrigerator’s components, we determined that the compressor had failed. The compressor is responsible for circulating refrigerant throughout the system, and when it stops working, the entire unit loses its ability to cool.

Repair: Work: Diagnostic evaluation of cooling system · Parts: None — repair not economically viable · Result: Compressor failure confirmed; replacement unit recommended

Samsung dryer — Mogadore, OH

Reported: The customer reported their Samsung dryer was squeaking during the drying cycle. This type of noise typically indicates worn components in the drum support system.

Diagnosis: Upon inspection, we found the idler pulley had worn out, causing the belt to slip and create the squeaking sound. The idler pulley maintains proper belt tension and when it fails, the belt can’t grip properly on the drum.

Repair: Work: Replaced idler pulley with Supco idler · Parts: Idler pulley — Supco replacement unit · Result: Dryer operates quietly without squeaking

GE refrigerator (GSS22JETGWW) — New Philadelphia, OH

Reported: The customer reported that their GE refrigerator’s icemaker was making a lot of noise. This type of complaint typically indicates internal mechanical failure within the icemaker assembly itself.

Diagnosis: Upon inspection, we found that the icemaker ejector motor had stripped. This is the component responsible for pushing ice cubes out of the mold and into the storage bin. When the motor strips, it can no longer function properly and creates grinding or loud mechanical noises as it attempts to operate.

Repair: Work: Installed a new icemaker assembly · Parts: WR30X10093 — ICE MAKER KIT · Result: Unit cycled and filled with water properly

Speed queen washer (AWN43RSN115TW01) — New Philadelphia, OH

Reported: The Speed Queen washer would fill up with water but won’t wash. The rinse and lid lock light blink, preventing the wash cycle from starting.

Diagnosis: The lid lock plug had worked loose. This disconnection prevented the washer’s control system from detecting that the lid was properly secured, triggering the safety lockout that displays as blinking lights on the control panel.

Repair: Work: Plugged in the lid lock connection and fastened it so that it could not work loose again · Parts: No parts required · Result: Tested the unit and confirmed proper wash cycle operation

Tappan oven (12-2299-10/06) — North Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported no ignition when attempting to turn on the oven. The unit would attempt to light but never actually ignite, and they noticed a slight gas smell during failed ignition attempts. The oven had been taking progressively longer to heat up before failing completely.

Diagnosis: Testing revealed the bake igniter was pulling insufficient amperage to signal the gas valve to open. A weak igniter will glow but won’t generate enough current to complete the safety circuit. This creates the dangerous situation of gas flow without ignition, which is why the safety system prevents the valve from opening. The extended heat times the customer noticed were early warning signs of igniter deterioration.

Repair: Work: Removed old igniter, installed new igniter with proper torque specifications, tested gas valve operation · Parts: 5303935066 — Igniter oven kit with mounting nut · Result: Oven now ignites within 90 seconds and maintains proper temperature cycling

Reported: The customer called because their oven gets warm, but doesn’t get up to the appropriate level (in this case 400 degrees). The unit shows still on preheat an hour after starting the oven.

Diagnosis: When an oven takes this long to heat and can’t reach set temperature, the igniter is usually the culprit. This component weakens over time and eventually can’t draw enough electrical current to open the gas valve fully. The oven tries to heat but never gets the gas flow it needs for proper combustion.

Repair: Work: Replaced igniter in the oven · Parts: 316489400 — igniter · Result: 350 in 7 minutes. Cycling off and on fine.

Maytag washer (MVWX655DW1) — North Canton, OH

Reported: The customer reported their drum not spinning to wring clothes. The washer would fill and agitate normally, but when it came time for the spin cycle to extract water from the laundry, nothing happened.

Diagnosis: We removed the wash plate and found the hub underneath was stripped out. This plastic component connects the agitator assembly to the transmission, and when it fails, the drum loses its ability to spin during the wash and rinse cycles.

Samsung refrigerator (RS265TDRS/XAA) — Oh., OH

Reported: The customer reported that their refrigerator does not stay cold. Food in both the fresh food and freezer compartments was warming up, creating an urgent situation that needed immediate attention.

Diagnosis: The evaporator had ice built up that was keeping the fan from spinning. This ice blockage prevented proper air circulation throughout the refrigerator, causing temperatures to rise in both compartments. The buildup indicated failures in the defrost system components that normally prevent this type of ice accumulation.

Repair: Work: Replaced the evaporator cover, defrost heater, defrost termination sensor and installed the drain kit · Parts: DA97-08724N evaporator cover assembly, DA32-00029A defrost termination sensor, DA47-00322J defrost heater, DA82-01415A water leakage assembly (drain kit) · Result: Ice blockage cleared, fan spinning freely, proper cooling restored to both compartments

Whirlpool oven (WFE320M0JS) — Waynesburg, OH

Whirlpool oven (WFE320M0JS) — Waynesburg, OH

Reported: The oven was stuck in a heating cycle with the F2 error message constantly displayed. Only the top heating coil was working, but it was heating excessively and wouldn’t turn off when the cycle should have ended. This created both a safety hazard and made the oven unusable for normal cooking.

Diagnosis: The F2 error code on this WFE320M0JS model indicates a temperature sensor or control board issue. Testing revealed the bake relay inside the main control board was sticking in the closed position. This relay controls power to the heating elements, and when it fails to open properly, the element continues receiving power even when it should shut off. The control board’s inability to regulate temperature properly triggered the F2 safety code.
