An Admiral oven in North Canton stopped lighting two of its burners completely. Our technician found a failed spark module that wasn’t sending ignition signals to the burners, plus worn ignitor assemblies that had stopped producing adequate spark.
The Problem
The homeowner reported that two burners on their Admiral model FGGF3032MFD wouldn’t ignite at all. You could hear the gas flowing when turning the control knobs, but no spark occurred. The other burners worked normally, which pointed to specific component failures rather than a gas supply issue.
Diagnosis
Testing revealed the spark module had failed and wasn’t sending electrical signals to the affected burners. The ignitor assemblies on those two burners had also worn out over time. When spark modules fail, they typically affect multiple burners since they control the ignition system for the entire cooktop. The ignitors showed carbon buildup and electrode wear that prevented proper spark formation.
The Repair
- Parts replaced: 5304508269 spark module kit, 316536622 ignitor/orifice assembly, 316536602 ignitor/orifice assembly, 5304494425 wiring harness, 316540900 mounting screw
- Work performed: Removed old spark module, installed new module with fresh wiring harness, replaced both failed ignitor assemblies
- Result: All burners now ignite immediately with strong, consistent spark
Is It Worth Repairing?
Admiral ovens from this era are solidly built and typically worth repairing when the issue is ignition-related like this one. The FGGF3032MFD model has good parts availability and reliable gas valve systems that last for years. This repair addresses the most common failure points and should provide several more years of service.
Maintenance Tips for Admiral Gas Ranges
- Clean burner grates weekly and wipe down the ignitor electrodes with a dry cloth to prevent grease buildup that can interfere with sparking
- Remove the burner caps monthly and clean the ignitor areas with a soft brush – Admiral’s ignitors are more exposed than other brands and collect debris easily
- Check that burner flames burn blue with minimal yellow tips – yellow flames indicate clogged ports that need cleaning with a thin wire
