Check your GE appliance

Works for GE, GE Profile, Café, Monogram & Hotpoint.

The serial tag is inside the fridge on a side wall, around the door frame, or on the back — usually two letters then numbers.

How it works

GE builds the manufacture date right into the serial number. The first letter is the month and the second letter is the year — we translate them for you instantly. GE reuses the same letters every 12 years, so if your appliance could be much older or newer, your model number pins the exact year. Prefer to talk to a person? GE warranty windows, in plain English

A quick guide to how GE’s factory coverage generally works. Your exact terms depend on your model and paperwork, and GE can confirm them.

  • Year 1 — full factory warranty. Parts and labor on most GE appliances from the purchase date. Covered work goes through GE’s own service network.
  • Years 2–5 — sealed system. Compressor and condenser on many Café, GE Profile, and Monogram refrigerators. If that’s your issue, GE may still cover the part.
  • Year 2 and beyond — that’s our lane. Once the base year is up, most repairs are on you. We use genuine GE parts, give honest repair-first advice, and back the work with a 6-month labor warranty.
