Dishwasher problems I fix
Most dishwasher calls come down to one part or one clogged component, not a dead unit. Here’s what I see most often:
- Not draining, or water left standing in the bottom
- Not cleaning — dishes come out dirty or gritty
- Leaking water onto the floor
- Won’t start or won’t power on
- Not drying dishes at the end of the cycle
- Door latch won’t catch or won’t stay closed
- Standing water that won’t clear
- A bad smell coming from inside
I work on built-in and portable dishwashers of every major make. If yours is a Bosch, Whirlpool, or GE unit, I have specific pages for those brands.
What to expect
I start by diagnosing the actual cause, not guessing at parts. A dishwasher that won’t drain can trace back to the pump, a clogged filter, or a control problem — and each one is a different fix. When I know what’s wrong, I explain it to you in plain terms.
Then I give you an honest call on repair or replace. A good dishwasher is usually worth fixing, and a single part often beats buying a whole new unit. But if it isn’t worth fixing, I’ll tell you that too.
Most repairs are done in one visit. I use OEM parts, and completed repairs are backed by my own 6-month labor warranty.
