Maytag Dryer; Refrigerator Repair – Massillon, OH (MEDB835DW4, 106.51564104)

A customer in Massillon called about their Maytag dryer that had a squeal when using. They were also interested in possibly fixing the ice machine in their Kenmore side-by-side refrigerator if it was worth fixing. During the repair, we discovered additional issues that needed attention.

The Problem

The Maytag dryer was producing a squealing sound during operation. The customer also wanted an evaluation of their Kenmore refrigerator’s ice dispenser to determine if repair was viable.

Diagnosis

The dryer’s idler pulley was worn and causing the squealing noise. The support rollers also needed cleaning and lubrication. During reassembly, I discovered that the blower wheel was broken and required replacement. On the refrigerator, the motor in the ice dispenser had failed.

The Repair

• Parts replaced: 279640 idler pulley, WP697772 blower wheel
• Work performed: Replaced the idler pulley, cleaned and oiled the support rollers, replaced the broken blower wheel
• Result: Dryer operates quietly without squealing
