A Samsung dryer in Canton wasn’t producing any heat despite running normally. Our diagnostic revealed a completely burnt-out heating element — a common failure point on this DV45H7400E model that leaves clothes damp after full cycles.
The Problem
The homeowner reported their dryer would run through complete cycles but clothes came out still damp. The drum was tumbling and the control panel responded normally, but no heat was being generated during any cycle setting.
Diagnosis
We accessed the rear panel and tested the heating element assembly. The element showed complete electrical failure with visible burn damage to the coil. On Samsung dryers, the heating element is housed in a duct assembly that channels heated air into the drum. When the element burns out, the blower still operates but only circulates room-temperature air.
The Repair
- Parts replaced: DC97-14486A — heating element duct assembly
- Work performed: Removed rear access panel, disconnected wiring harness and mounting brackets, installed new element assembly
- Result: Dryer now generates proper heat on all temperature settings
Is It Worth Repairing?
This 2014 Samsung model was well-maintained and the cabinet showed minimal wear. Heating element failure is typically an isolated issue that doesn’t indicate broader problems with the motor or control systems. For a dryer of this age with good overall condition, replacing the element makes financial sense.
Maintenance Tips for Samsung Dryers
- Clean the lint filter after every load — Samsung’s fine mesh filters capture more debris than basic screens and clog faster
- Check the external vent hood monthly for lint buildup, which forces the heating element to work harder
- Run an empty cycle on high heat monthly to burn off any lint residue inside the drum and vent system
