The local Sears stores are gone

The physical Sears stores that Canton-area families remember — where you bought your Kenmore washer or your refrigerator — have all closed. There is no Sears location in Canton you can walk into and no local Sears office.

The Sears at Belden Village Mall (4100 Belden Village St NW, Canton) was a 50-year anchor and closed January 12, 2020; the former space was later subdivided and redeveloped. The Kmart and Sears Appliance Repair depot at 2600 Lincoln Way East in Massillon closed in mid-November 2017. The Kmart at 555 South Ave in Tallmadge closed February 2, 2020, and the property was acquired by U-Haul.

Sears Home Services still exists as a national operation, but it’s a call center with no local office in Canton — no storefront, no local staff you can stop in to see. That’s a very different experience from reaching a local tech who answers his own phone and knows your area.
