Louisville Appliance Repair recently completed an in-home service call in Uniontown, OH, where a Maytag washer (model MVWX655DW) on Bucklers Street Northwest had been leaking water during the rinse and drain phase of the wash cycle, with water reaching the basement ceiling below. Samuel visited the home to inspect the machine and was unable to replicate the issue during the service visit. The technician noted a possible connection to a sock or debris at the end of the drain hose that may have plugged the drain pipe in the wall.
The Problem
During rinse and drain phase of wash cycle, washer started leaking water onto first floor laundry floor – subsequently flooding into basement ceiling. Apparent machine-washable bath mat was being washed at the time, and I noticed clumps of white fabric in washer after leak. My concern is a drainage tube and/or drainage pump was clogged by white fiber and is now defective/needs replaced. That is at least my best guess.
The Repair
Could not replicate issue. Possibly sock on end of drain hose filled up with crude and plugged drain pipe in wall.
