A commercial laundromat in Louisville called with multiple machine issues — a Wascomat that wouldn’t run after quarters went in, a Huebsch washer not spinning out, and a dryer that wouldn’t tumble. Our diagnosis revealed several different problems across the equipment that needed immediate attention to keep the business running.
The Problem
The customer reported that Wascomat #25 won’t run after you put the quarters in, with the orange light lighting up but nothing happening. Huebsch #60 soft mount wasn’t spinning out. Dryer #12 wouldn’t tumble at all. Another Wascomat to the immediate right of the out-of-order unit sometimes won’t start up after putting $1.50 in twice, though it could be made to start by putting more quarters in the coin slide.
Diagnosis
On our first visit, we found #68 model hwrt71wn Huebsch soft mount had bearing or broken spider issues. Wascomat #25 was actually washing laundry at the time of our appointment, indicating an intermittent problem. Washer #60 had a broken out of balance wire harness. Dryer #12 needed a new belt replacement.
The Repair
- Parts replaced: Commercial laundry repair parts including new belt for dryer #12
- Work performed: Installed new belt on dryer 12, reset washer 30, repaired broken out of balance wire harness on #60 washer
- Result: All units restored to proper operation for continued commercial service
Is It Worth Repairing?
Commercial laundry equipment like Admiral and Huebsch washers are built for heavy-duty use and typically justify repairs well into their operational life. These machines are designed to handle thousands of cycles, and proper maintenance keeps them profitable for laundromat owners. The investment in repairs usually pays for itself quickly in a commercial setting.
Maintenance Tips for Admiral Washers
- Check coin mechanisms monthly for proper alignment and operation to prevent customer complaints
- Inspect wire harnesses regularly for wear from vibration in commercial environments
- Monitor bearing sounds during spin cycles — early detection prevents more expensive spider assembly damage
