The Problem
The customer reported their Samsung fridge was throwing a 22 E error and not cooling. They also mentioned some fan issue and wanted to know how soon we could come out and take a look.
Diagnosis
The fresh food evaporator drain was obstructed with ice. Also, the fan was frozen up. Additionally, the ice maker was leaking and not functional, requiring replacement as well.
The Repair
- Parts replaced: DA97-08724N fresh food evaporator assembly cover (includes new fan and temperature sensor), DA32-00029A defrost temperature sensor, DA82-01415A Samsung drain leakage assembly, DA97-11092B ice maker assembly
- Work performed: Installed new fresh food evaporator assembly cover, replaced defrost temperature sensor, installed drain probe to prevent drain plugging, installed Samsung drain leakage assembly kit, replaced ice maker
- Result: With these items, we’ve been able to have a very successful repair in this type of situation
Is It Worth Repairing?
Samsung refrigerators from this era are generally worth repairing when you can address multiple issues comprehensively. The RS265TDRS is a solid model, and fixing the evaporator system along with drainage improvements typically provides years of reliable service. Multiple component replacement in one visit is often more cost-effective than addressing problems piecemeal.
Maintenance Tips for Samsung Refrigerators
- Check the evaporator drain regularly — Samsung models are prone to ice buildup that blocks drainage
- Monitor ice maker operation and watch for water leaks that can indicate seal problems
- Keep the fresh food section temperature consistent to prevent excessive frost formation on evaporator coils
