A customer in Navarre called about their Admiral washer having issues. When we arrived, we found the cold water was off and the display showed this was from a water supply issue, plus someone had likely taken their clothes out before the cycle finished.
The Problem
The Admiral top load washing machine wasn’t completing its cycles properly. The cold water supply was turned off, and it appeared someone had interrupted the wash cycle by removing clothes before it finished.
Diagnosis
Cold water was off and the display indicated this was from a water supply issue. The machine had also been interrupted mid-cycle when clothes were removed before completion, leaving it in a confused state.
The Repair
- Parts replaced: No parts needed
- Work performed: Reset the top load washing machine, restored cold water supply, lubricated lock assembly, disassembled and verified drain was clear
- Result: Machine ran through another cycle and cleared out, cycling properly
Is It Worth Repairing?
Admiral washers are basic, reliable machines that are generally worth repairing when the fix is straightforward like this one. Most Admiral washer issues involve simple mechanical problems or user errors rather than expensive electronic failures, making them cost-effective to service.
Maintenance Tips for Admiral Washers
- Always let wash cycles complete fully before removing clothes to prevent control confusion
- Check that both hot and cold water valves behind the machine are fully open
- Keep the drain area clear and occasionally run an empty hot water cycle to prevent buildup
