Admiral Washer Repair (Model AAV7000AWW) – Massillon, OH

A homeowner in Massillon called about their Admiral washer that wouldn’t drain and had no cold water entering. When we opened up this AAV7000AWW, we found a pump shaft that had worked loose and a drive belt that had slipped off entirely.

The Problem

The customer reported two main issues: water staying in the tub after wash cycles and only hot water filling during rinses. The washer would start its cycle but clothes came out soaking wet, and the cold water inlet wasn’t working at all.

Diagnosis

Inside the cabinet, the drive belt had come off the pulleys completely. More concerning was the water pump shaft — it had enough play that it couldn’t maintain proper seal or pumping action. The loose shaft explained the drainage failure, while testing revealed the cold water inlet valve had failed internally and wouldn’t open when energized.

The Repair

  • Parts replaced: WP35-6780 — water pump assembly, WP21001932 — water inlet valve, 5304508925 — control module
  • Work performed: Removed old pump and inlet valve, installed new components, reinstalled drive belt with proper tension, reconnected all water lines and electrical connections
  • Result: Ran full test cycle — washer now drains completely and fills with both hot and cold water as programmed

Is It Worth Repairing?

This Admiral AAV7000AWW is from their mid-tier line and these units typically run 12-15 years with proper care. At this age, replacing the pump and inlet valve makes sense since the rest of the machine is mechanically sound. Admiral washers are straightforward to service and parts remain available.

Maintenance Tips for Admiral Washers

  • Check the drive belt tension monthly — Admiral uses a spring-loaded idler that can weaken over time
  • Clean the pump filter at the bottom front panel every 3-4 months to prevent debris buildup
  • Run a hot water cycle with 2 cups white vinegar quarterly to prevent mineral deposits in the inlet valves
