Louisville Appliance Repair recently made a service call to a home on Mont Clair Blvd NW in Massillon, OH, where a KitchenAid dishwasher, model KUDS02FRBL2, was reported to have a broken door hinge and a leak, complicated by a heavy decorative cabinet panel attached to the front of the door. After inspecting the unit, Samuel found that the door brackets holding the cabinet front were stripped and a plastic vent piece on the bottom of the door was also broken. Given the cost of parts needed and the age of the dishwasher, the recommendation was to replace the unit rather than pursue repairs.
The Problem
The dishwasher seems to have a broken hinge on the door which is leaking. There is a matching “cabinet” attached to front of dishwasher and it’s very heavy, which seems to be a problem. This is our new home and we haven’t moved in yet.
The Repair
Door brackets holding the cabinet front on the dishwasher are stripped. The easiest way to repair it would be to replace the door which would cost $211 just for the parts. There is also a plastic vent piece on the bottom of the door that’s broken. It would cost approximately $26 as well. Considering the age of the dishwasher and the potential repairs in the future, it would be advisable to replace the unit instead of repairing it…
