We recently serviced two Samsung refrigerators at a home in Massillon, OH. One board was flashing error codes while the other fridge couldn’t get power at all. Our diagnosis revealed different issues requiring targeted solutions for each unit.
The Problem
The customer reported that one Samsung refrigerator’s board was flashing error codes. The second refrigerator had no power and wouldn’t turn on at all.
Diagnosis
On the first unit displaying error codes, we found failed control board and filter board components. The second refrigerator had a temperature sensor that had become unplugged, cutting power to the system. We also identified a faulty drain probe that needed replacement.
The Repair
- Parts replaced: DA92-00111B PCB assembly inverter, DA27-00027C coil filter EMI filter, new drain probe
- Work performed: Replaced control board and filter board on the one fridge, plugged temperature sensor back in and installed new drain probe on the other
- Result: Both refrigerators restored to full operation with proper temperature control
Is It Worth Repairing?
Samsung refrigerators from this era are generally worth repairing, especially when dealing with control board issues rather than compressor failure. The RF series models are reliable units that respond well to electronic component replacement when properly diagnosed.
Maintenance Tips for Samsung Refrigerators
- Keep condenser coils clean to prevent control board overheating that can trigger error codes
- Check door seals regularly to maintain proper temperature readings from sensors
- Clear drain tubes monthly to prevent water backup that can damage electronic components
