A Maytag refrigerator at a home on Margate Circle in Canton, OH had stopped cooling and the front display would only light up briefly when a button was pressed before going dark again. Samuel visited the home and found that the high voltage board in the back of the refrigerator had failed, a part that was replaced to get the unit running again. After installing the new control board and following the reprogramming instructions, the refrigerator was back in working order.
The Problem
The front display on the refrigerator quit lighting up and now the fridge won’t cool. If you push the buttons on the display, it will light up while you’re pushing the button, but then it quits.
The Repair
The high voltage board in the back of the refrigerator had failed. This is a relatively common issue and common symptoms. We installed a new board and the fridge is good to go. You do have to follow the instructions included in the parts box to reprogram the new board for the particular model.
