D&D TV & Appliance in Carrollton, Ohio has closed

For 35 years, D&D took care of Carrollton and Carroll County. When Dave Walter passed and the store closed at the end of 2022, I’m the tech who kept answering those repair calls. I’m Sam — text me and I’ll help.

Based in Louisville, Ohio, and serving Carrollton, Malvern, Lake Mohawk, and all of Carroll County.

A Carrollton institution for 35 years

D&D TV & Appliance started the way a lot of good small-town businesses do — two names over one door. Don Parker and Dan Ries combined their first names to make “D&D,” and the store opened in 1987 on Public Square in Carrollton. About ten years later, Don’s son Tom Parker stepped in alongside Dan, and the two ran it together for the next two decades.

They outgrew the square and reopened at 618 Canton Rd NW in 2000. For a generation of Carroll County families, D&D was simply who you called. After a hard 2022 — the loss of their longtime serviceman and, months later, one of the owners — the doors closed at the end of that year, after 35 years in business. The old building on Canton Road later became the U.S. headquarters of Dango & Dienenthal in 2026.

The people behind the name

D&D’s reputation was built by the people who showed up at your door. Two of them passed away in 2022, within months of each other, and Carroll County remembers them.

Dave Walter (1941–2022)

D&D’s appliance repairman for twenty years — the hands behind countless Carroll County service calls. A Carrollton High graduate and Air Force veteran, he was the technician families knew by name.

Tom Parker (1961–2022)

Co-owner of D&D for over two decades, a Carrollton High graduate, former Dellroy fire chief, and longtime village council member. He delivered appliances himself, even on holidays.

I ran D&D’s service calls myself

When Dave Walter passed in early 2022, those repair calls still had to be answered — and I’m the technician who answered them. I ran service calls for D&D’s customers across Carrollton, the lakes, and the townships during that stretch, working in the same homes Dave had served for years. So this isn’t a company that showed up after the fact. I was already in your kitchens.

I’ve been servicing appliances throughout Carroll County since 2018 — Carrollton, Lake Mohawk, Atwood Lake, Leesville Lake, Malvern, Kensington, and the rural roads in between. When D&D closed, I kept doing exactly what I’d been doing: showing up, diagnosing honestly, and fixing what’s worth fixing. — Sam Willhite, Louisville Appliance Repair

Bought a Speed Queen from D&D?

D&D was a major Speed Queen dealer, so a lot of Carroll County laundry rooms have a Speed Queen washer or dryer that came from that store. Those machines are built to run for decades, which means many are still going and will need service at some point. I repair Speed Queen washers and dryers and carry common parts on the truck — along with the Whirlpool, Amana, Maytag, KitchenAid, and other brands D&D sold.

How I can help now

Start with the Carrollton page for local details, or see the full list of what I repair.

You deal with me from the first message to the finished repair. I use OEM parts, back my completed work with a six-month labor warranty, and finish most repairs on the first visit. I’m repair-first and I don’t sell appliances, so if something isn’t worth fixing, I’ll tell you that instead.
