Maytag Washer Repair – New Philadelphia, OH (MVWX655DW1)

A Maytag washer at a residence on Bank Lane Southeast in New Philadelphia was stuck on rinse cycle. Our diagnosis revealed the pulley had come off of the bottom of the transmission, requiring reinstallation with locktite.

The Problem

The customer reported their Maytag washer was stuck on rinse cycle. The machine would not advance through the wash cycle properly, remaining in the rinse phase indefinitely.

Diagnosis

Upon inspection of the MVWX655DW1, we found the pulley had come off of the bottom of the transmission. This mechanical disconnection prevented the transmission from operating the wash cycle sequence correctly, causing the unit to remain stuck in rinse mode.

The Repair

  • Parts replaced: W10913953 — ACTUATOR
  • Work performed: Reinstalled the pulley with locktite
  • Result: Washer now cycles through all phases properly

Is It Worth Repairing?

This Maytag MVWX655DW1 is from their top-load washer line known for solid construction. With a relatively straightforward mechanical repair like this, these units typically provide years of reliable service after proper maintenance. The transmission-related components are built to last when properly secured.

Maintenance Tips for Maytag Washers

  • Check for excessive vibration during spin cycles, which can loosen transmission components over time
  • Keep loads balanced to reduce stress on the transmission and drive system
  • Inspect the unit periodically for unusual noises that might indicate loose mechanical parts
