Crosley Washer Repair – Salem, OH (CAW)

A Crosley washer in Salem, OH stopped mid-cycle and wouldn’t restart despite multiple attempts. The washer stopped in a cycle and was full of water, with the control knob having finished rotating around but nothing happening when the button was pulled.

The Problem

The washer stopped in a cycle and was full of water. The customer tried to restart in several modes but nothing happens when button is pulled. The knob had finished rotating around, and they even tried the motor reset with no success.

Diagnosis

The lid switch had failed. This prevents it from operating in the spin cycle. When it spins it drains so it would not drain either. The lid switch on this machine is located under the top cover on the right side of the door.

The Repair

  • Parts replaced: 3949247V-SWITCH — lid switch
  • Work performed: Flipped the console up, popped the two clips out that hold the cover on and leaned the cover forward. The lid switch was then replaced from underneath the cover.
  • Result: Washer now operates normally through all cycles including spin and drain

Is It Worth Repairing?

Crosley washers are budget-friendly machines that can provide good service when maintained properly. A failed lid switch is a straightforward repair that restores full functionality. For machines under 8-10 years old, this type of safety component replacement typically makes financial sense.

Maintenance Tips for Crosley Washers

  • Keep the lid area clean and check that it closes securely — debris can interfere with the lid switch operation
  • Don’t overload the machine as this puts extra stress on safety components like lid switches
  • Run a cleaning cycle monthly to prevent buildup that could affect mechanical components
