LG Washer Repair – Massillon, OH (WM3250HWA)

A customer in Massillon called about their LG front-load washer after the front door seal came off during a cycle. They thought it was just a warped seal issue, but our diagnosis revealed the real culprit was a broken suspension system that caused the entire tub to drop.

The Problem

The customer reported that the front door seal came off (warped) during cycle. They had taken off the seal and noted it seemed to still be in good condition, but had already ordered a replacement from online. They needed assistance reinstalling the door seal as the dryer was stacked on top of the washer making removal of the washer front difficult.

Diagnosis

The left tub suspension spring had broken. This caused the tub assembly to drop, pulled the door boot loose and broke the spring that held the boot to the tub. What appeared to be a simple seal problem was actually a mechanical failure in the suspension system that supports the wash tub.

The Repair

  • Parts replaced: 4861ER2001P (clamp assembly), 4970FR2084Z (spring hinge), 4930EN3004A (holder)
  • Work performed: Installed a new suspension spring and boot spring
  • Result: Issue is resolved and operation is normal. Ran the machine to check for leaks and everything checks good

Is It Worth Repairing?

This LG front-loader is a solid mid-range model that typically provides good service life when properly maintained. Suspension spring failures are repairable issues that don’t indicate overall machine failure. With the relatively affordable parts cost and the washer’s proven reliability, this repair makes financial sense compared to replacement.

Maintenance Tips for LG Washers

  • Keep loads balanced and avoid overloading to prevent stress on suspension springs
  • Clean the door boot monthly to prevent buildup that can cause premature wear
  • Use HE detergent only and avoid excessive amounts to prevent seal damage
