A Kenmore washer in Louisville made a weird noise mid-cycle and shut off, leaving the door locked with clothes inside. When we opened up the control panel, we found the main PCB had arced and failed completely.

The Problem

The washer made a “weird noise” in the middle of a cycle and shut off. The top load door stayed locked shut with the clothes inside and will not turn back on. When you press the power button it clicks like it wants to turn on but doesn’t do anything else.

Diagnosis

Won’t enter diagnostics, nothing showing on display. Saw arc on main pcb when plugging in. The main control board had suffered electrical damage and was completely non-functional.
