On a service call to East Reno Drive in Louisville, OH, Samuel found a GE front-load washer leaving standing water after every cycle. The customer had already cleaned the filter with no blockage found. After diagnosing a failed load-side command output on the main control board, Samuel replaced the board and confirmed full drain function before leaving.
The Problem
Washer not draining, measurable water remaining after cycle, filter already cleaned with no blockage found
The Repair
Complaint: Not draining.
Parts replaced: WH22X37840 (board).
Diagnosis: F18 active — drain pump clearing algorithm failed. Coin trap clear (customer-verified). Drain pump circuit 19.7O against 19.5O spec, within tolerance. Commanded pump via SmartHQ Service — no relay click, no 120VAC output at the drain pump plug on the main board. Load-side command output dead. Isolated to main control board.
Repair: Replaced main control board, WH22X37840 (current part). Drain verified — good. F18 cleared.
Spin ramp confirmed healthy pre-repair (basket tracked target to 800 RPM), no mechanical fault.
Outcome: Resolved.
