Louisville Appliance Repair recently completed a service call in Akron, OH, where a homeowner on N Glenridge Rd was experiencing leaking from the door of their KitchenAid dishwasher, model KUDM24SEBL1, toward the end of the wash cycle. Samuel visited the home to diagnose the issue and determined that the vent was not closing properly during the wash cycle. The required replacement part has been unavailable since 2014, so the customer decided to replace the dishwasher rather than pursue further repairs.
The Problem
Leaking from door at end of cycle.
The Repair
Customer complaint of dishwasher leaking towards end of wash cycle. I found the vent was not closing during the wash cycle. The wax motor should energize and close during the entire wash cycle and then open up to allow steam to vent during the dry cycle. The vent part number 9742770 is no longer available since 2014. Customer is going to replace dishwasher.
